Thursday 8th January ‘09 (High 71F)
Our plan of action for today was to be up around 6.30am and catching the bus around 7.20am for morning EMH at the Magic Kingdom (8-9am). Unfortunately I leapt out of bed just as Kerry rang me at 7.15am to see if we were up
Anyway 15 minutes later we were all ready and heading to the bus stop. We had just missed the park opening, so we went straight to the rides. First we rode Buzz. Before we went on, I told Paul ‘roughly’ where the big 100,000 target could be found. As the ride started, it stopped for a short while and within seconds I had reached 999,999. I was so chuffed, especially as when the ride stopped, Paul’s view of the high target was blocked by the people in front of us
As you can imagine, I didn’t let him forget about my great score
After Buzz, we all rode Space Mountain and as it was nearly 9am we headed over to Frontierland. We rode Big Thunder Mountain and then Pirates of the Caribbean (all walk ons), and then we did a bit of shopping before leaving to get the monorail over to the Contemporary Resort, where we had 10.30am ADR at Chef Mickey’s
As always Chef Mickey’s was lots of fun. The buffet was nice, and the girls enjoyed getting autographs and photos with the characters. We saw Goofy, Mickey, Minnie & Pluto (somehow we missed Donald)
After breakfast we left for the Pop and had our usual hour or so by the pool
Later in the afternoon Paul & I got the bus to Epcot as we had a 7.15pm ADR at Tutto Italia. We arrived at Epcot around 4.30pm and were surprised that fastpasses were available for most rides. We grabbed some FP’s for Test Track and rode SpaceShip Earth first (we love the changes at the end). We used our FP’s for Test Track and got some more for Soarin’ (but we didn’t end up using them)
Next we headed towards World Showcase. First we went to the Rose & Crown for a drinkypoo. On our way to Germany we ran into the girls who were shopping and getting something to eat, and after a couple of glasses of Liebfraumilch we continued over to Italy
It was our first time at Tutto Italia, and we really enjoyed it. It was very busy in there, but it had a nice atmosphere, it really didn’t feel like we were in a theme park at all. Our meal was delicious (thanks for the recommendation Jules & Ian). We started off with a bottle of wine, Pinot Grigio I think, then for starters Paul had Prosciutto di Parma (ham with melon) and I had Bufala Mozzerella (Mozzerella cheese & tomato). For mains Paul had Lasagna al Forno and I had Cannelloni al Forno (vegetarian cannelloni) and we were also given different breads and breadsticks. Then to finish off I had the Mocha Tiramisu. I was surprised that the waiter gave us two spoons, so that we could share the Tiramisu ~ you would of thought that he’d have known better, that there is no way on earth that a woman would share her dessert (even with her hubby)
it was delish
We will definitely be going back there again, but now we’re torn between Tutto Italia and Restaurant Marrakesh for a nice romantic meal for just the two of us
After dinner we grabbed an Asti Spumante and Rose Regale and we headed back to the Pop where we had a Mai Tai before heading back to the room
