Manchester flights

It is a long time since I have flown with Virgin and feel somewhat concerned about the reports you hear I have heard people on the boards say they are Old, dirty, Manky etc etc/

We have booked to fly PE in November, What is this flight going to be like, How is PE? How often are these planes delayed due to technical problems???

Both Island Lady and Honey Pie fly out of Manchester and I've been on both and although old they are certainly not manky and the service is excellent as well as the on board entertainment system which also has nintendo games as well as the usual choice of films and TV programmes. Being older they definitley won't have any teething problems like the newer ones!

I agree,They are old but definately not manky, the service is very good, they have nintendo's,t.v etc...everything you need in a long flight!

Simon, I am the same, I am sick all the way there and back! I am such a BAD flyer! Nerves just get the better of me!

The planes are safe, never had a bad experience on one!, the only thing I hate is turbulence! but you find that with any aircraft!

I think it rare you heard of problems with the planes, etc, they are very safe! as with all aircrafts! you will be fine, enjoy your flight!!

Im no fan of Virgin, however I will say I have NEVER experienced one delay or technical hitch on their aircraft (even the old and manky ones that used to fly out of LGW!!!). I loathe flying...just come back from Dublin on Ryanair, 45 mins of pure terror, fuelled by the woman next to me chucking up everywhere. I hate it, and always will.

I also had a bad experience on a Travel City jumbo last year, so now I am commited to flying scheduled ONLY. Back to Virgin or BA this time, where the safety is totally paramount. I can just about relax after 6 or 7 medicinal brandys, and the seatbelt sign clicking off (I always take that as good sign we arent about to plummet nose first into the Atlantic).

Remember this, an Airline Pilot has a lower life insurance premium that the guy who sells life insurance!! That always makes me smile, even at 37000 feet!!

Simon and Beth,

One of best things that you can do to help with your flying jitters is to ask to meet the captain.( before you board the plane)

You then have someone to focus on, he or she will have a family just like yourself and be anxious to get home to them after the flight.

They will also tell you what to expect in the way of weather, so no suprises.

It really helps!!

Hiya

I too am a very nervous flyer and i also read about the virgin planes that fly to Orlando. As i am flying with them in September i e-mailed them about what i had heard, they replied telling me that they now have sold those planes to another company who (wet leased) or i think thats what they called it. This company then loan the planes back to Virgin, nothing is changed about them still Virgin staff and all. Its just that this company has a bigger team to work on the planes.

They assured me that these planes are very safe and reliable

I can't wait to get on them now
