Does anyone know how I can contact Al Weiss? I had a problem at WDW last week and NOT ONE SINGLE CM was helpful. I lost my wallet at Epcot and I knew EXACTLY where I was when I lost it. I went through all the right channels from contacting guest services, park security, lost and found, filed a report with security, checked guest services 6 times, called central lost and found 3 times and no one was helpful, no one said "sorry," it just seemed like no one cared. I expected way more of Disney and I really felt like the Disney magic was no where to be seen. I know people lose things every day and I didn't want anything from Disney - just some sympathy. Not a roll of the eyes or a huff like I was annoying them. And I can't understand why they couldn't send a CM to check the EXACT location. When I say exact, I MEAN exact. The ladie's restroom in Epcot in between Mousegear and Innoventions East, across from Test Track, but the silver trash can near the changing table.

Anyway, I think the Magic is fading and when I spoke to an Epcot cast member regarding what had transpired, she agreed that I was treated poorly and told me to contact Al Weiss when I got home. So I did try to resolve my issue in WDW to no avail. That is why I wish to notify Mr. Weiss.

Thank you for your help. I appreciate it.

As a CM at Epcot, please let me say how sorry I am to hear you lost your wallet there. I know the panic you must have felt with all your personal information inside, let alone the loss of money, along with the frustration of not getting any help.

You didn't mention which day you were there. I am the Super Greeter for the East side of Future World and was there on Sat. and Sun. this past week. I pass that restroom many times during the day as I walk around. Had I known, you would have had my personal attention with any help you needed.

Again, I am so sorry to hear what happened.

Chances are that someone saw you drop it and they picked it up and pocketed it before it was on the ground 5 minutes. So many people in this world that don't care to be honest anymore.

The Rumors and News Board has a sticky with Disney Addresses at the top.
I am sorry no one was able to (or would) help you.
And I am not writing the following to be flamng, I am just trying to understand the situation.... You were not able to return to the restroom to check? I am figuring you must have left the park.
We all would like to think some honest person found it and turned it in. But that is the best case situation.
I know how frustaring that can be. DH left behind (dropped) his cell phone on Test Track not long ago. By pure chance he realized it right after we left the building.
And once I left a nice, new camera in M:S! Again luckily I realized it within a half an hour.
Must be something about that area..... pirate:
Hopefully someone finally did turn it in. Good luck.

I hate to say it but YOU lost YOUR wallet, end of story.

Short, and maybe not so sweet is always best.

The CM should have provided you with that information if you went to guest relations.

Ouch :(

To the OP: sorry you went through that. Several years ago I left my CC (yes, how careless and irresponsible of me, imagine that!) in a shop in FW and realized it when we were all the way at the back of WS. I spoke to a CM in one of the shops (forget which country), who called the store where I had used my CC and the cashier there did have it (and BTW, how careless and irresponsible of her not to give me back by CC, right? ). We had a PS in Morocco just a few minutes later, so they took our info and while we were at dinner a manager came looking for me with my CC. I did write to Al Weiss afterwards telling him about the great service from that CM and a couple other special ones, and I got back a nice handwritten "thank you" note back. This doesn't help you at all, sorry :p , don't know why I went off on this tangent.

Obviously OP knows who lost the wallet. I think the issue here is that several CMs did not help as much as OP needed or wished, or even exhibit enough customer service to express sympathy for a truly distressing situation.

OP...so sorry this happened to you. I hope at least some of the magic was salvaged on your trip. I know it doesn't help what you went through, but maybe some other readers will benefit from the suggestion to try the new American Express Traveller's Checkcard. I have used it travelling for awhile now, and it gives me immeasurable peace of mind.

My heart goes out to you. I have lost my wallet before. The panic and the frustration that goes with it. I hope you are able to get the address you are looking for and that you get some resolution of the situation.

To Dznefreek: I hope you never lose anything!!

What I get from OP message is that if anyone had just said "sorry" this letter wouldn't be necessary?

While writing this letter may give you some satisfaction, the fact is that if you went through all the right channels and the wallet wasn't found, I'm not sure what more you could have expected from the CM's.

You say they never went and checked...do you know that for sure? Its entirely possible that CM's are around and about in the restrooms throughout the day, and never saw it. Perhaps those responsible for the restroom were questioned about a wallet and replied none was found. Maybe it was emptied by someone who decided to do the wrong thing and then tossed it in the trash.

I'm sorry you lost your wallet; its an awful thing to have happen and hearing about it just reminds everyone to be especially careful about keeping track of their belongings.

I can understand how upsetting and frustrating this type of experience can be, it's happened to me before. I think I'm just curious as to why Al Weiss needs to be contacted regarding this matter. I know you mentioned that per a conversation with someone at wdw you were advised to do so, but I can't help but think that many people are interpreting that as you wanting some type of retribution for the unfortunate incident. I really don't know what Al Weiss could do to make this experience a little less dissatisfying for you other than return your wallet, which at this point in time is probably (sorry to say) not likely.

From what I read, it seems that you are upset that none of the cast members were sypathetic to the fact that your identification and personal property were missing and possibly being abused by someone. I also was curious as to whether you were able to check the location by yourself. Otherwise, I'm sorry that no one took the extra time to help you locate it, but I think that you should direct that concern to those direct departments as opposed to Al Weiss...I think it would have more of a direct impact on the cast members that you felt were lacking. Obviously not all cast members in that area are lacking sympathy, as the poster above works in that direct area and would have offered assistance if they were aware at the time. So it wouldn't help much for Al Weiss to send a mass email to those areas because it will not address the individuals directly who made your vacation less than magical.

Just my thoughts on the topic.

not to be mean but did you check yourself??? just trying to figure out why you wanted them to go check. sorry you had difficulties but cynic that i am i know most valuables are gone in a flash.

I hate to say it but YOU lost YOUR wallet, end of story.

I hate to say it, but you sound very heartless and cold. You don't even know the situation. It's not like I just dropped the wallet. I have two little kids and one of them was in desperate need of a change of clothes. I was also with a large group and trying to coordinate many things, so my stress level was higher than usual. So don't come on here and state the obvious in such a rude way before you know the story. Also, your comment makes it sound like I'm a stupid idiot to lose my wallet. I just can't believe people like you. It's just plain cruel and it proves my point even more. It's responses like yours from CM's that I'm upset about. NOT losing my wallet. So, just remember this. Um, I think I learned it in KINDERGARTEN - "If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all."

To everyone else, thank you for your kind words and sympathy. I wasn't able to get back to Epcot to check myself because a torrential thunder storm hit the area just as we got to AKL for dinner - and I didn't check for the wallet until I got to AKL. If I had checked before we left, I would have gone back and retraced my steps. I do not want any type of compensation from Al Weiss. I was simply following a suggestion by a CM after speaking with her and explaining the situation. She was just as upset as I was over the lack of service in regards to the situation. So she mentioned his name and said that he does read his mail and this is something that would concern him. I'm not looking for freebies or special treatment. I just hope that if someone else finds themselves in my shoes that they are treated with a lot more courtesy and kindness. Period. End of story.

Scanne,

I just wanted to say that I'm sorry that this happened to you! :grouphug:

I lost an expensive pocket knife last year, but did not realize it until we got home. I immediatley contacted lost and found, and told them that I lost the knife in one of three places, SE at Epcot, Kilamanjaro Safari ride at AK, or somewhere in the WS, Amazingly, I received a call a day later from the nicest CM, asking for a description of the knife. I gave him a good description, and told me they had it and it was found on one of the safari trucks at AK. He asked for my address, and I received it 2 days later, no charge for shipping or anything. I immediatey e-mailed guest services to praise their lost and found department, but never received a reply. It never ceases to amaze me how great the CMs canbe.

I agree, having a CM check would have a 99% chance of being pointless, the wallet was long gone. Hopefully you were with someone who carries duplicate charge cards (like a spouse or SO), so you would have the phone numbers and numbers handy to cancel them. If not, I probably would have paniced a little, then felt stupid, then try to figure out a way to get in contact with the card companies...all the while imagining some evil person running up my charges to the max.

As far as the CMs at the park response to you, I really don't know what they actually could have done for you that they didn't. You filed the reports with lost and found, so they put you in touch with them.

When I go to the parks, I leave my wallet in the room safe. I wear a small zippered pouch around my neck where I keep my room key, safe key, DVC mem card, DL, park pass and one credit card (in case the Disney Room Charge system is down), plus about $5.

I don't think having a CM check would have been pointless. Lets just say 'unlikely.'

This is the way I will do things from now on. Much easier to keep track of it all if it's on your person at all times.

Oh, and my DH had duplicate cards and we called and cancelled them right away. No charges were made. I just worry that someone has my drivers lisence and the chance of identity theft.
