Man with a gun at Downtown Disney

the fact that there wasthis horrible situation, even after the clubs were closed, shows it wasn't the clubs that were the problem.

this is scary, true. but I still think it's a shame they did away with Pleasure Island . It is OK to have a venue for law -abiding adults (much like City Walk at Universal). Disney is NOT just for kids. Itwas nice for empty nesters like hubby and I to have a place to drink and dance, enjoy dif. types of music (and the adventurers club... konga loosh!)while on vacation..no driving involved!
pleasure island was separate from the shops,etc at Village marketplace, ... if you didn't want to go there with your kids, you didn't have to.

That actually made me smile, that someone ELSE so passionately defends the place I loved.:):lovestruc

The fact that night clubs are there or not makes no difference. Carrying a gun in DD is not the same as carrying one in one of the parks. The parks are private pay to enter facilities. The chances of a gang member carrying a gun into the parks is very low due to the fact that they have no need to be there. There are no buyers of drugs, gang hangouts(remember it costs a lot of money to get into the parks) there is really no reason for an undesirable to enter the parks.

On the other hand, DD is open to the public without admission price. There are no security check points and there are a lot of locals that hang out there. Gang members are everywhere these days and a:)popcorn:: place like DD is a great place to meet under the radar. This yahoo was the exception, he was probably not even a true member. A true member that is conducting illegal activities would never flash signs in broad view and would usually not draw any attention to themselves.

The fact that this happened at DD has nothing to do with the clubs but has everything to do with the society we live in today. Like it or not, gang members and thugs are every where and guns are an everyday part of our lives. Weather you see them or not, guns are everywhere and I am glad that we still have the right to protect ourselves in a responsible and lawful way.

Guns are not needed in Magic Kingdom or Epcot. But if someone wants to carry legally in DD, I feel good knowing that it's not only the thugs and gang members who are. I am sure the off duty officer was carrying, I believe they are required in most states.

This is just MHO. popcorn::

wow ! you know it does not suppries me that some one would have a gun not even at disney it a scary world we live in
