Man turned away from Buffet for taking 12th piece of Roast Beef

Yep Faithinkarma you are right and alot of places still have it or there is a sign when you walk into the place that specifically says all you can eat.

DH told me of 2 guys (big, burley types) that went to a Chinese Buffet.....all you can eat. After about 3 hrs, the manager came over to them and said..."All you can eat, not you eat all!":earseek:

Chuck-A-Rama sounds more like an all-you-can-stomach type of place to me.

I bet local jokes include UpChuck-A-Rama.....:teeth:

I think a little common sense is applicable even if "all you can eat" is implied. Good manners dictate not pigging out at buffets, which is what this man did. On the other hand, I would have to see the portion size to know for sure. Those buffet restaurants can slice their beef really really thinly.

If it is an all you can eat, that is what it should be period. I think these people were treated terribly. I have been to Canada umpteen million times (grandparents live in Quebec) and - yes - there are buffets that are not all you can eat and it is SPECIFIED! It should be here too if the management does not want customers to partake in all you can eat. Bad public relations in my opinion.::yes::

I think the point is being missed here. The article states that the restaurant was low on the beef. The manager was just being fair to the other guests. This is the misconception of the Atkins diet. You cannot eat ALL the meat you want. You have to keep your calories at a minimum.

I had to laugh at the "Upchuck A Rama" comments. That is definitely a comment/joke heard a lot around here. But it really has decent food and one of my kids favorite places to eat! A lot of people have their wedding breakfast/dinners there!

actually natureboychris that's not true.. you can consume a whole lot of calories on Atkins and as long as you limit carbs you can lose weight

You cannot eat 5000 calories a day and lose weight. I have read Atkins book. What I am trying to say more than anything is that people have this mentality that you can eat unlimited quantities and it be healthy. Even the Atkins people has stressed lately that you need to eat in moderation. I know 4 people personally that were on the Atkins diet and lost weight. Sure enough they gained it all back plus some.

Well Chris.. I can only go by my own experience. I lost over a hundred pounds on Atkins. I never watched calories and I'm sure I ate a lot of them. I have kept most of the weight off for several years now. Atkins now isn't really the same as it was. In order to be more popular with the mainstream they are recomending a lot of things that Dr. Atkins never said.
Actually if you head over to our WISH board you will plenty of other people that have had long term success with Atkins and are very happy with it.

...just something about reading the words Chuck-A-Rama makes me laugh.....:jumping1:

I have to admit this thread conjurs up all kinds of images in my mind. People actually go to these places for weddings?

I remember stopping at a Family Style Restaurant while on vacation in Pennsylvania where the buffet for children under a certain age was priced by weight of the children (there was a big scale in the lobby). They lost big-time on my grandson, but made it up on my granddaughter. I remember they posted something about not taking more than you can eat, which makes a lot of sense. I see so many people fill their plates high at a buffet and not finish half of it. That's such a waste.

When we go to a buffet, we usually get a little of everything we want, finish it, and maybe go back for a little of something we really liked if we still have room. Most buffets are still a bargain even if you don't go back for seconds.

Doesn't "chuck-a-rama" sound like a resteraunt that should be in a comedy movie???
A place where there is lots of teen angst among the employees and they all hate wearing steer ears?

Chuck-A-Rama gift certificates are a perfect gift for Mother's Day, Father's day, Graduations, Birthdays, or just to say "I care".

You GO, Alex!

Everyone is different. I've been on many diets in my life and always managed to go back up after the "diet" was over. Low carb to me is not a diet but a way of eating. Human beings will always adapt anything to make it work for them. If they abuse it, they will fail and no one is the worse off but them.

People think I miss the bread, what I don't miss is the three medication I used to have to take daily just to survive!
