I was just watching Today on NBC and during one of their news segments they interviewed Stan Pike of Avondale, GA. He painted his house lime green with purple polka dots in protest of being told he couldn't change the appearance of his front stairs. Now neighbors are joining in and putting lime green and purple polka dots on their homes!!! I wonder if Stan is a member of DIS! I guess our DISers from GA who have taken all the Alien Green Mickey Ears from Home Depot are safe!!! Everyone will think the lime green Mickeys have disappeared because of Stan Pike's protest!!! Annmarie :bounce:

LOL!

This house is not far from where I live. The man is "protesting" the ridiculous ordinances in Avondale, and there are many, but what gets to me is HE DOESN'T LIVE THERE!!

I guess I could paint something any idiotic color as long as I don't have to live in it!

Wow! I didn't realize he wasn't living in the house!!! That's not fair for his neighbors. I just found it funy that of all the colors he could use he picked lime green or was it Mickey's Alien Green???Annmarie

LOL! This reminds me of when I lived in Willingboro, NJ. We used to drive past this lime green house with a lime green roof and wondered why anyone would paint their house such a horrible color. We found out when a major drug bust happened there. News reports said the roof was green so helicopters knew where to drop drug packages.

Never seen a lime green house, quite a few purple ones and one that was tiled in yellow BATHROOM tiles, but no green ones.

Just think how easy it would be to give directions to that house, LOL!

Oh my! I guess that house would work in some areas of the world...tropics perhaps?!?

The owner of the home was protesting the Historic District's refusal to allow him to change the front steps of his home. His request was a simple one and one that has been done on approximately 30 other houses in the district. As someone who owns a 200+ year old home in a historic district I can certainly understand his frustration. Some of the Comittees are quite hard to work with and as the color was among the few things they DON'T control was really the only way he could protest.

As for the neighbors, they used purple and neon green plates to decorate their own houses in a show of support.

In my neighborhood, we have a lime green house right next door to a liliac colored house. There is also a robin egg blue colored house right down the street. I know sometimes the color is actually different from the paint chips, but YUCK! I'll just stick to my boring old taupe colored house!
