We arrived from CT on Wednes - left in snowstorm and approx 30 degrees to arrive at 80 degrees, low humidity and partly cloudy. :cool1:

Saw a lot of my Oklahoma Sooner brethern in the Orlando airport when we arrived - heading out after a less than satisfying Orange Bowl. Haven't seen so many long faces since I toured the horsebarn at Anheiser Busch!

Right now, I'm looking live out room 5406 in Sago Cay at the Grand Floridian this afternoon amid 80 degrees, partly sunny and just slightly more humid than yesterday. Perhaps you can hear an occasional monorail going by. My DW is napping and I'm on the balcony in swim trunks and rum toddie so I thought I'd drop all the DIS folks a line. As you know, January can be spotty but the weather is to remain constant throughout our entire stay (departing Sat 1/15). Bill from PA must be euphoric (wasn't the word I originally selected but this is a family site!)

We move to Saratoga Springs tomorrow as my folks arrive from Nebr escaping 15 inches of recent snow and a lousy football season. It has been surprisingly crowded, especially at MK. We tried out first "extended late hours" on Wednes evening but left after Wishes - just too crowded. I guess there is no real "down time" anymore.

You can't swing a dead cat (just an expression, don't get your knickers in a twist) and not hit someone from either Britian, Japan or Latin America. I guess the weak dollar has stimulated foreign travel. However, the difference in attitude is quite noticeable - everyone very pleasant and well mannered!

Haven't noticed any marathoners but the CMs say that some 17,000 are participating. We've had a drug company convention here at the GF - I won't give you the name but there were plenty of stadium seat cushions with VIAGRA on them. (and you wonder why drug prices are so high!)

They do have a great marathon shirt out this year with Mickey in a Pirates of the Caribbean theme - may be the best one I've seen. Also found out that the Capt Jack adult beverage shack on the pier at the Shopping Village will be replaced with an enclosed building in the next several weeks. You may not care but that is one of my "don't miss" stops - best rum runners on the face of the earth!

I've got a long standing deal with my DW that she shops and I visit the rum runner shack. Currently, I've got a self-imposed limit of three per visit. I never used to have a limit but I guess last spring after six rum runners (actually 5 1/2 - the other half is on the floor of a WDW bus somewhere) I was found trying to lob ice cubes on the third floor balconies at OKW on my way back from the bus stop. Fortunately, there is no concrete evidence so my position is that its just a nasty rumor.

I surely do miss my buddy Jay (passed away several years back) - our families always vacationed together at WDW and at least I had a partner in crime. Its a tough job going it alone!

By the way, the GF charges 9.95 for 24 hour contiguous internet service - what a rip! Saratoga Springs includes it - vacation club is the way to go!

Well, don't have much else to report at this juncture. The ice has melted and the lime peal is sticking above the fluid in the Mickey glass so I expect its time for a refill. If you have requests for info, etc. just pass them along and I'll see what I can do!

Regards, Pearljim

Glad you're having a good time! We'll be at the GF (or the Poly, if AP rate doesn't materialize) in Feb.

Just one question though - you mentioned a difference in attitude among Britons, Japanese, etc. I'm curious...different from whom? ?Have you encountered troubling attitudes from certain groups at WDW?

Folks seem much more relaxed, much more concerned about each other, less pushy, less self-absorbed. I expect it has alot to due with the state of the world these days with terrorism and natural disasters on everyone's mind - I think it does help to shrink up the world a bit, especially at the happiest place on earth!

Thanks for the report~
We will be there in a bit over a week and I am afraid the great weather may leave with you. Have a great time~

Hey, I paid for internet service at SSR, and we were staying on points! Are you sure it's free?

Just got back from the villas at Wilderness Lodge and Boardwalk and we paid $9.95 per day for internet access, too. I'm pretty sure Saratoga Springs is the same way.

So glad you are enjoying your trip! I was thinking about Bill From PA this morning and smiling because I know he is having great weather and he was pretty stressed about that! I just looked at the 15 day forecast (I know not really reliable!) and it says the day we arrive in 2 weeks the high will be 64 but brilliant sunshine! Good thing we are bringing our jackets! Have a great remainder of the trip and I hope you write a report for us when you get back! Have a Runner for me!! :drinking1

Glad to hear that you are having a great time! We'll be at the Grand Floridian in three weeks from today!!

:cool1:

We will be there in a couple of days......... and I'm looking so forward to it!!!! We've checked the weather, and it's suppose to be 80's all week!!! YEAH............ :earboy2:

Please, please, please save some of that sunshine and warmy goodness for us in FEB :bitelip:

Glad to hear all is well at WDW and the GF!

We'll be there in just under three weeks, and we're praying for the type of weather you're enjoying right now! :D

I'll double check at SSR when we check in today but I could swear it was gratis in October - perhaps the rum poisoning has progressed at a much more rapid rate!

What a great writing style you have! Please do a trip report when you return, or keep posting daily! :Pinkbounc

Sounds great! I love the Grand Floridian - you took me back to sitting on the balcony and listening to the monorail pass - and the WDW Train!!
My grandmother used the expression, "There's not room to swing a cat in here..." Hilarious! It DOES get tight at the MK, doesn't it?!
Have a wonderful time at SSR and have a great week. You're so lucky :)

Hello fellow Husker!!
Glad you are having a great time. Boy, I sure do wish we were there right now, instead of in this COLD and snow! Hope your parents have a good trip, and enjoy the weather! Have a great time!! :cool1:

It sure would have been nice to be at Disney this week to take away some of the pain! I'm so glad we decided to save our money for our WDW trip in May and not go to Miami. I would have been more upset if we had spent all that money to actually be there. I still love my Sooners, though! And, I hope Nebraska is on its way back, because our friendly little rivalry just hasn't been the same the past few years!

Glad to hear you had such a great time! It makes me wish May would get here soon!

Sounds great, 5 weeks from today for us and I can't wait for the poly. I remember sitting on the balcony at GF myself years ago and how perfect everything felt then!! Enjoy! Bye the way....how is that wall in front of the castle and if you see in your travels film developing can you just see if it has digital? I have been trying to get an answer all over about this and no one can tell me where they have it besides epcot. Does GF have it? Thanks for your report, looking foward to the next one!

We'll be arriving at POR 2 weeks from today! I was also thinking about Bill from NE PA since we only live about 1 hour apart. He must be loving it! The long range forecast for us is 65 and sunny on the 22nd; not 80, but it still beats freezing rain! :cool1:
