DGD's first words!!!!!!

From her first day, we always say "MaMa MaMa" whenever our DD is holding her. We say things about "MaMa" all the time.

In the past 3 weeks, DGD looks for her when she is not around. She turns her whole body until she makes eye contact and has been quite grouchy a couple of times when DD was not around. DGD has been jabbering for quite some time, especially with the "b" sound but never the "m". We have yet to hear a "d".

At bedtime last night (i.e. a very tired little baby!), my DD was holding her and my Mother wanted to give her a hug. As my Mother reached for her, DGD yelled, "MaMaMaMa!" and buried her head in DD's shoulder. It was awesome!!!! It was totally unexpected and very obvious that DGD wanted her MaMa! There was no mistake in what she said or who she wanted. She kept her head turned toward my DD's face and didn't move.

DD was moved to tears and I was thanking God that her first words were "MaMa" instead of the usual "dada". Even this morning, DD was teary when we talked about it.

I am so glad that I was able to see my DD feel the joy of motherhood. It was a moment that I will always treasure, as will my Mother.

How wonderful! It sounds like your daughter is doing a great job with your grandaughter. I'm sure she'll never forget those first words. Does your daughter have a baby book so she can write all this down?

That is so sweet! Make sure you write this story in your words in her baby book, she'll appreciate how much it meant to all of you!:D

<font color=navy>What a precious moment. That is so nice that all four generations were there when it happened. :)

Thanks, Claudia, for sharing that special moment with us all. Very nice. Thanks.

LOL, Jason I'm not surprised.

Claudia, that's wonderful. :)

What a magical moment, Claudia. Baby's first words are so precious.

Great first words! Too soon they turn into "I need twenty bucks for ....."

How sweet. I think Hunter said Mama first too. Well, maybe I was using my "selective" hearing... Anyway, moments like those are precious.

And, Buz, you are oh so right!:)

What a heartwarming story. Congrats to you and DD. It must have been a wonderful moment.

DD Sarah's first word was "cookie". I guess you can see where her priorities were.

I think that James' first word must have been "Nintendo". :(
