We have PS as part of a Fantasmic pkg next week. I've heard mixed reviews about the restaurant although the menu looks appealing and I like the idea of not standing in line for 2 hours to see the show. But I'm feeling a little confined by the early seating and the requirement for a 48 hour cancellation. It is stifling myspirit a bit but I won't mind if the restaurant is good. I'll be severely bummed if it isn't a nice meal and I gave up my freedom for it.

Any recent experiences out there with Mama Melrose?

The food at Mama Melrose's is pretty good, but don't order something too exotic. It's a good rule of thumb with restruants you're unsure of - order something that's hard to screw up.

If you enjoy drinking, thier Sangria is to die for! :)

Hi jmsvss,

I think you just gave yourself more indigestion by asking this question! You're going to get a lot of people who like it and a lot of people who don't. But I think you'll find that with any WDW restaurant. My advice is: just go with your gut.

My DF and I just went there last week. I had Chicken Parm and she had Pene in Vodka Sauce. I finished mine, but didn't love it. Hers was absolutely awful. She ate about 2 bites of her $16 entree.

You may like it fine, but we will not eat there again.

I agree with Bob. ;)

LOL! Those are our 2 favorite dishes....love them! In fact Im making a special trip to MGM on our 1 park day on our next trip just to get the penne alla vodka. ;)

As with any restaurant, you will get good reviews and bad. Everyone has different tastes. I think if the menu interests you and you want to do the package, then by all means give it a try. It may be great for you, it may be horrible, but you wont know until you try it. :) We have been there once on each of our last 8 trips and really enjoy it.

I find that MGM is sort of a wasteland for sitdown meals. I think Brown Derby is the only place worth going and I'll eat just about anything.

Last year my then almost 5 year old daughter had a hamburger at Mama Melrose's Restaurant and ended up with food poisoning.

Disney sent us some Disney Dollars and a pillow to compensate - it was a terrible experience. On vacation and sick to her stomach. A couple of days later she was ok again.

I as a result will not be dining at Mama Melrose's again.

We have had very good meals at Mama Melrose...would go back again! :lovestruc

if you are concerned about the time of your ps and having to be "on time" may i suggest that you call back w/in 30 days and then again w/in a week or two and see if you can get a later ps... it worked for us w/h&v last year... also, make the latest you can get as most restaurants will accommodate you if you are early but not if you are late... and relax and enjoy!
