Can any of you give me a review of Mama Melrose's. We are currently scheduled for lunch during our Christmas trip, however, we are over our TS count for the DDP. So we're wondering about the food. How does Mama Melrose's compare to Olive Garden. Would we be better off just going to CS for lunch that day? Other TS we have scheduled are: Coral Reef (dinner), LTT (dinner), Sci-Fi (lunch), Norway (b-fast), CP (dinner), 1900 Park Fare (b-fast), Biergarten (dinner), Boma (b-fast), Planet Hollywood (dinner). Thanks in advance for any advice. We are DD-12, DD-13, DH and I. Our trip dates are 12-19 through 12-27. Thanks again. :santa:

For my family, Mama Melrose's is a must-do! It's better than Olive Garden (but not tons better). However, we really love it for the atmosphere. In the summer, it feels calm, cool, relaxing and in the winter, it's cozy and warm. The service can be a bit slow, but usually we're so glad to be in and seating down after touring most of the day, it's a plus...

Oh, and I highly recommend the sangria!

I just booked MM this morning! I am glad to read a decent review of it, after reading a lot of complaits. I must try the sangria!;)

I would us my ts credit at MM and use the $15 certificate at Planet Hollywood, so that you pay less oop.

Olive Garden is gourmet compared to Mama Melrose...the food there is so blech...no flavor at all and Olive Garden gives you bread :goodvibes

we liked mama melrose a lot. i got the pork w/risotto and my mom got the shrimp w/pasta and we both thought our meals were great. i say give it a try, i'm glad i did even though i had read mixed reviews.

Thanks for the info. Any other opinions on Mama Melrose's? :upsidedow

We've had reservations there many times over the years and for one reason or another had to cancel. Last trip we finally made it and we all enjoyed the meal and the atmosphere.

I had Fra Diavolo spaghetti, very good. My son, who had just finished up a 3 year Navy tour in Sicily also enjoyed MM's. He also had a beer there he used to drink in Sicily, don't recall the name of it.

BTW, we did have bread before the meal.

I think Mama Melmore is better than the Olive Garden, but I am not a big fan of Olive Garden. I think the OG food tastes pre-packaged and not at all fresh. I think MM is more on par with Macarroni Grill and Carrabba's if you are familiar with those chains. They still can't compare with a really good local Italian restaurant though, so don't go in with overly high expectations expecting to be wowed. We are going again this Sept since we enjoyed it last time. I know we really enjoyed my meal and I think it was the chicken parm. My husband had something fancier (I think the veal) and it was not prepared as well as others of the same dish we had elsewhere. Thus, I would recommend one of the simplier dishes that it is harder to screw up. The flatbread pizza was really good if you like flatbread pizza.

I also think mama melrose is better than olive garden. We ate there last year and are eating there again in TWO DAYS! :lmao:

If I were you I'd cancel planet hollywood. We've eaten there a few times and were less than thrilled with it.

tricia.

We ate there due to the fact that no other TS restaurant had room. I had read the negative reviews, and the only negative that we had about MM's was that it took a while for our waiter to bring us our check.

The atmosphere is relaxing and was a refreshing place to escape the heat. The food was great and the desserts yummy, although I was almost too full after eating my chicken & pasta dish to enjoy it! My DMiL had the flatbread pizza and loved it, and I can't remember what anyone else had.

You'll enjoy it!

We tried Mama Melrose's for the first time in July and loved it! The atmosphere is great and the staff were all nice to us. It seemed to be a popular place because the waiting area was PACKED, which is a good sign right? :) I had the brushetta and for my main course-penne pasta with vodka sauce. Our waiter told us we could change things around with the food if we wanted something added or different, so I added shrimp to the pasta. Yum! We will definately be returning next year!

My DH and I went there as part of the Fantasmic package and although I'm not sure I would do that again (TOO MUCH FOOD FOR US), what we had was tasty. I honestly can't remember my entree, but the bruschetta was awesome!

Enjoy!
