I am trying to decide on a restaurant for our last full day when we are in DHS.

It looks to be between Mama Melrose, Sci-Fi diner and possibly Brown Derby.

I never really hear much talk about Mama Melrose and wondered if anyone has been, what did you think of it?

We ate at MM last March and really enjoyed everything about it. The food was really good, the service was excellent, and I just loved the whole atmosphere of the restaurant. We are going back to MM in a couple of weeks (have the F package there) and can't wait.

Mama's is my new favorite restaurant on property!! Every time we go there is something new to try on the menu. Last time tried the pork chop on mac & cheese and the mahi piccatta! They also have a spaghetti and meatball cupcake for kids, it looked really cool! Didnt try it though. I highly recommend Mama's!

Our experience in April 2010 at Mama's was not as glowing. Slow service, average food. We won't be returning in November.

Unfortunately, we do not have rave reviews of Mama's. We had to send back raviolis for not being cooked properly. The Chicken Parm was just standard, usual chain quality. I did like the flatbread we ordered as an appetizer.
Mama's is not on our list of return to restaurants.

The one time we ate there the service was slow but the food was very good. IMHO it is the best TS at DHS, but then it is the only one we have tried.:rotfl2:

We have eaten there 3 times and each time has been good.
We enjoy the food and we have not had any complaints on service.
I would say it's one of the better places we have eaten.
We are returning there in Sept!!

We are eating there for the first time in August for a Fantasmic! Package and I can't wait!!! :yay: I've heard nothing but good things. :goodvibes I LOVE Sci-Fi and Brown Derby, and also 50's Prime Time, and will be revisiting all except Sci-Fi this summer!! :woohoo:

We ate there a couple of weeks ago...the food was very good. It is pricey so IMO, it is not a good value. If you are on dining plan, then it is a good use of a TS credit. Our server was excellent, and the atmosphere was nice. I have no complaints about the restaurant and would eat there again...but only if on dining plan. :goodvibes

MM is on our "must-do" list every time we go!!! We love this place! Food is always fantastic, atmosphere is great, and I LOOOOVE that wood-burning oven smell!!!! Having said that, we love Sci-Fi too, but haven't been there in a few years, so I can't tell you what the food's like now.

We enjoyed it in 2009, service was good, ambiance was nice. I enjoyed the chicken pippeta(sp?) DH and DS had steak and really enjoyed it, DD did not like her cheese flat bread tho and I tasted it and it wasnt good but other than that it was great! I had a chocolate martini and cheesecake as well and it was good, DS had tiramsu and loved it although now they have changed it..

I can't give you anything on the Brown Derby since I've never eaten there but the other 2 I have. Sci Fi is good, get the milkshake!!! The atmosphere is what you are paying for IMO. Mama's was good also. I guess do you want burgers or Italian? Both are good choices.

We like Mama Melrose. We have had really good service there. Each time we go, we get something different to eat and it has always been good. We have no complaints. Our last server even went out of her way to give us desserts to go and told us things that we could get (frozen coffee drinks) when I told her we were too full to eat anymore. It was really refreshing on a really hot day and really nice so I didn't know that we could use our dessert credit on the coffee drinks.

I've been to every TS at DHS except for the Brown Derby. We love going to Sci-Fi for lunch. Their chicken sandwich is really tasty and if you are a milkshake person, this is the place to get one. We've never had a bad meal at Mama Melrose. Their flat breads, penne vodka and chicken parm are all good.

Pleasantly surprised at Mama Melrose... the chix pipette was awesome! Actually, the first time Mom and I tried MM, we had an app (I forget which one) and shared the pipette, well, they forgot the chicken and we didn't realize until we ate almost all of the dish. We did mention it to the waitress and the manager actually came back and comped us for the entire dish! Not expected at all, if anything, thought they'd give us a small credit for the chicken. Went back again since then and will be back again in June.

We dined at MM May 2010. The service was excellent and we even had a pleasant chat with the manager. I enjoyed the atmosphere as well. We went during lunch with our 2 DS, then ages 5 and 1. It was pretty quiet at the time, so they could just be themselves. The food was above average but essentially unremarkable (in fact, I could not tell you what we ordered). As a side note, we have a couple of excellent Italian restaurants in our small Maine town, so we may be just a tad bit spoiled. While I was not bowled over, I was certainly not disappointed, either. I would definately go back again. ;)

We went there in October and loved it! We are picky about our Italian as we are from Boston and have access to wonderful Italian in the North End and we found Mama Melrose to be quite good. DH liked it so much we are going back next trip!

The calamari was awesome! DH had a yummy goat cheese ravioli and I had a very nice chicken parm,

We loved it on all three of our last trips (December 2008, August 2009, and August 2010). It has become a must-do for us!

We have never ordered the pasta or parmigiana dishes, though.

It's interesting, because the pasta and parmigiana dishes seem to get panned at Mama Melrose's, Tony's Town Square, and Tutto Italia. It almost makes me wonder if Disney can do pasta or parmigiana right. I have never tried these items at Disney, so I don't know. But if you read reports, that is what seems to disappoint people the most.

I always order the calamari, the anitpasto, or the mozzarella and tomatoes for our table. We have tried the wood-grilled tuna and the strip steak for entrees. Both were outstanding, especially the tuna.

I love Mama Melrose's!

We love it and go every time we visit. Lately we have been getting the Fantasmic package. Why not since we are planning on doing Fantasmic anyway and we are definetly gonna do Mama's. So we book the package. We have a party of 4. 2 of us usually get the Chicken Parm and 2 of us get the NY Strip. then we share. One other poster did not like the chicken parm, but we absolutely love it. The portion size if huge as well. I can go on, but I dont wanna over sell!!

We dined at MM last Thursday on the Fantasmic! package. DW had the Chicken Parm & really liked it, I had the pork chop & loved it! Service was good, enjoy the atmosphere. We've been there several times & have always enjoyed it. Every few years we see Fantasmic!, and always go to Mama's.
