I just made dinner reservations for Mama Melrose for myself, DD (21), and DG. I haven't heard much about this restaurant and would like to know how everyone liked the food and atmosphere. Thanks so much!
We have not tried it either yet, but will book a ressie this coming trip. My kids (ages 2 and 6) LOVE pasta! I have heard that its really good, but not overly exciting or adventurist dinning experience. If you ar like me and your family enjoys pasta I would give it a try. Would be great to hear what other have thought of the restaurant though so GREAT THREAD
Food awesome, ambience awesome (have you seen _The Muppet Movie_? It reminded me of the Italian restaurant in that), service was pretty uneven but hopefully you'll be luckier.
We LOVED it. I tried calamari for the first time ever there and it was very, very good. I also really loved the woodfired flatbread and my DH really liked the Chicken Parm. The kids liked their flatbread pizzas there too. We are going back for sure in September, just the smell of the place makes my mouth water
We have dined here on almost every trip over the past 15 years and really enjoy it. On our visit last week the service wasn'the best (she brought regular cokes, not diet and she brought DH the wrong entree...he ate it, LOL), but we didn't let that ruin it for us. We are looking forward to going back in July.
As for atmosphere, recently we dined at a little Italian restaurant in the heart of Hollywood. My DS made the comment, "This reminds me of Mama Melrose", so I guess the theming is pretty accurate.
We ate there a few years ago and were pleasantly surprised as we had heard some negative reviews. The food was great although getting our server's attention was difficult at times. I think she ended up moving to the Wave though because we had a server just like her last year.
Good food, good atmosphere, and last time we were there (March) the service was even better than in the past - CM was very friendly and interactive with our kids. We definitely recommend it!
