which would you choose and why?
whats your favorite item from the menu?

My vote would be 50's Prime Time. Even though we can get food similar to this at my mother's the kids just love the feel of it. My son who is usually shy will play it up with the server. I LOVE the pot roast. And the desserts are really good too.

We do usually eat at Mama Melrosa also but that is because of the Fantasmic! package. If they would include 50's PT as an option we would skip MM.

I personally prefer 50's Prime Time because the show that the waiters and waitress' put on is absolutely hilarious. The peanut butter and Jelly milkshake is to die for... yummmmm :).

Although it is true that the fantasmic package adds a lot to appeal of Mama Melrose.

Fried chicken with milk shakes at 50s PTC is one of my favourite meals at WDW. YUMMY!!!!

Well I guess I am the odd one out...I do not like 50's Prime Time! The atmosphere is fun and the waitresses are hilarious, but the food is just gross, in my opinion. Sorry!!! I do like Mama Melrose! They have great bread and seasoned oil, the steak is great and the chicken Parm is great too!!! So I would totally pick Mama's over 50's!!

I also don't like 50s prime time cafe! I ate there twice and the food was just eh.... nothing special at all. Mama Melrose has good food, almost anything you order there is good. I liked MM so much better than 50s - atmosphere, food, everything. Yea, yea, the waiters and waitresses are "funny" but if you have someone in your group who doesn't appreciate getting picked on, it makes for a rather annoying experience.

50's PTC...gets a thumbs up from me....the fried chicken is awesome...and although I could probably make better chicken at my house...it's always good to try someone else's and enjoy....

So glad I'm not the only one!!!! :yay:

50's ptc for sure!!! we loved it! i think i had the potroast and it just melted in mouth. of course another fave was like a pp said...the pb and j milkshake....tastes waaaaay better than it sounds.

we also ate at mm's last year and i found it to be gross...yuck. will not be on our ressie list again.

Another 50s PTC lover. I usually get the pot roast and a chocolate milkshake. It's so thick you can't drink it right away. They give you a spoon with it;). Their desserts are really good too!:woohoo:

MM is pretty good food but consistently poor service in our experiences there.

While we like them both I can eat at Olive Garden at home so I prefer 50's Prime Time because of the atmosphere, the fun and games and the fried chicken is to die for!

I love the fun of 50 PTC (one of my faves on property!!), but I think Mama Melrose has better food overall. That being said, the chicken pot pie at 50s PTC is DELISH!! Well, 90% of the time. I've gotten a bum pie once. The flatbread at MM is my fave there. 50s is more of an experience, while MM has better food, in my opinion.

Just for yumminess' sake, here is the pot pie, strawberry shake, meatloaf and stuffed pepper (with a kids' hot dog in the background). Drool...

that is a tough one they are two really good reasturants with two differnt types of food but i would have to go with 50's caffe the servers are real fun to have

IMO the atmosphere is much better at 50's Prime Time and it is particularly fun for first timers. However, I've eatten there twice and really felt the food was below average. Maybe I just ordered the wrong things :confused3 Also I felt it was pricey for what I got. Maybe I would do it again if I was with a newbie and on the dining plan.

I tried MM for the first time on my last trip and I was impressed with the food. It is very good for theme park fare. The flat breads are also very reasonably priced. The atmosphere was just OK. Very similar to Italian family resturants around my home. We left with full bellies and felt like we hadn't overspent (a very unusual feeling when leaving a theme park resturant and paying OOP)

You really can't go wrong. Have a great trip!!

I would go with 50's Prime Time Cafe because of the food and great atmosphere.

As for my favorite menu items it depends. If I am there for lunch I like to order the Fish Sandwich since that's when it's only available. However if I am there for dinner then I always order the Meatloaf.

We went to both restaurants in December. Mama's was just ok. Nothing too special. But 50's was a hoot!!! The food was good, actually a pretty good value.
It's the experience of 50's that was so fun! I can't wait to go back!

I've never eaten at Mama Melrose, but my experience at 50s Prime Time wasn't the greatest, which was partly our own fault. I would like to try 50s Prime Time again. I have heard such great things, but we waited a long time to be seated and service for our larger (9 people) party was slower than other dining experiences we had. Because of this, we were rushed to get to Fantasmic and it made our whole experience less than what it could have been. I know there are great fans of it who would never miss it. I'd give it another chance...maybe for lunch, so as not to worry about getting to Fantasmic.
