Mama Melrose...no res?

Maybe. But disneys system is based on adrs. I would book an adr even same day

If you want to try your luck show up at opening or right before dinner.

I am sure that it has happened in the past, but on the 3 occasions that I have eaten there with the F! dining package they were turning away all walk ups, and were also behind on adrs.

I do not suggest trying to go to any TS location without an ADR. Except for Landry properties with a Landry card and maybe a couple of the non Disney owned locations at Epcot or DS.
Your so much wiser to open the app, pull up the Reservation page and look for an ADR
Odds are, you can find one for that day. If you can't, it's because they don't have space. If they don't have space then they can't really take a walk up either.
We never make ADR earlier than the day before. Most of the time, we open the app, find what has an ADR for an hour or so out and book it. We eat 99% TS and 1% QS using that method. So that should tell you how much TS there is out there with short notice. MM is one we eat most trips too, it's a favorite of ours.

If you don't mind risk being turned away, go for it. We attempt walk-ups all the time but always know we may not get in and have QS as a back-up. If you really want to eat somewhere, make an ADR. In my experience, Mama Melrose is a tough one for walk-ups and even with an ADR, the wait can be quite long.

I once made an ADR on the bus to HS for Mama Melroses for I think in 45 mins. We got to HS and went straight to MM. They weren't taking walk ups but we got right in.

Is it possible to get into Mama Melrose with no reservation? Which is better, lunch or dinner?

Same menu for lunch and dinner, so one isn't better than the other.

As others have said, ADR, even same-day ADR, is better than trying walk-up. MM is notorious for being behind, so very doubtful you would get a walk-up.

We had ADRs fo Mama Melrose at lunch at noon and it was quiet. You might have been able to walk in. By the time we left, it was full around noon. I would suggest getting ADRs if you can so you don't have to worry about it.

Mamas is hard enough to get into when you have a res. Unless it is a super quiet time of the year. As a pp stated, day or week of ADRs are sometimes easier to get. DH says its the best steak on property, and I love the seafood cioppini!
