We are wanting to book a Fantasmic! dinner and wondered what people think of these. We have eaten at BD once, and it was good but not over the top fantastic. But never Mama Melrose or Hollywood and Vine.

Any opinions?

Mama Melrose's is always good. I don't know if the Fantasmic dinner package still has the limited menu like it did a few years ago though. But the food is good and has been every time I've been there.

I was really pleasantly surprised by Hollywood and Vine buffet though when we went there last trip for the Fantasmic dinner. The food at the buffet was shockingly good. My husband is kind of a food snob and was pouting about it, but ended up really enjoying it. We got stuck with a 3:30 PM reservation which originally seemed way too early for dinner, but it ended up being fantastic because it was the earliest reservation available, so we were literally the first people up to the buffet for the afternoon, and all the food was really fresh because of it.

I like Mama Melrose's for the Fantasmic! Dinner Package. It's nothing special, but it's reliable and appropriate for everybody. This restaurant generally receives pretty mixed reviews on these boards, but my family has had good luck in our experiences there.

Hollywood & Vine is the only restaurant at WDW to which my DH has said, "Never again!"

That said, we haven't eaten there since 2005, so maybe it's better now. However, to us, it was loud & felt cramped, & the buffet was, to us, a lot like a Golden Corral.

We really like Mama Melrose's for our FDP. This year, just to be different, we're trying Brown Derby.

We like both Brown Derby and Mama Melrose. The menu is not limited at either restaurant. Mama Melrose edged out Brown Derby for us last trip because the appetizers are just so yummy! We also had better service at Mama Melrose (Brown Derby wasn't bad just very slow).

How long has it been, since you ate at HBD? It has improved markedly over the past few years. There's no comparison to how it was earlier. Anyway, for the best food, I'd choose HBD every time. If DDP credits are the main concern, I'd go with MM.

We did HBD last year and it was good...but so slow! We were there for 3 hours. Doing MM this year...

Weird. This exact thread was posted like a week ago. At any rate, you are going to find most people don't have very high opinions of H&V. The other two restaurants are so different from each other that it really comes down to what you are looking for. I like both but I felt Mama Melrose is a more comfortable environment. HBD is somewhat "fancy".
