My husband and I have never eaten at any of the following restaurants: Mama Melrose, Akershus or the Rose and Crown. I'm curious about all of them. Akershus the cuisine interests me, but don't know if the quality is just in the character greeting (if so we'd pass).

Thanks!

We had lunch last week at Mama Melrose. We enjoyed it. We started with the calamari appetizer, which was very good, with a spicy marinara sauce and a very generous portion -- about four or five times the size of the one at Yachtsman Steakhouse we'd had a couple of nights before. Four of us shared it, and it was plenty for all of us.

Each of us had a "flatbread". Basically a personal pizza. The cheese ones were very good. I had one with pesto which was tasty but a bit dry.

We didn't have dessert. Our waitress was lovely and it's a nice environment. Unlike the Epcot restaurants, the tables are well spaced and we didn't feel like we were on top of our neighbors.

I've never been to Akershus and it's been years since we ate at Rose and Crown, so I'll defer to other posters on those.

Can't speak to Mama Melrose but we had Dinner at Akershus and Rose & Crown last year.

Akershus Dinner: Princesses are what you pay for. The food was good. There were some Norwegian specialties (herring, pickled things) but most of the food was stuff I'd had before. The entree selection (you order this from a menu) is pretty varied from grilled salmon, lamb stew, pasta, cod, chicken. It's not as exotic as it may seem. Both DH and I liked it and DD liked that she could have shrimps from the buffet area.

Rose & Crown Dinner: We really liked it here. DH got Fish & Chips and he's not a big fish person but thought that they were really good. I had the lamb which was fantastic. I have a food allergy and they were terrific about the whole thing. The staff was lovely. We were there during Illuminations and were inside but we got to go outside, as did anyone else who wanted to.

Hope this helps!

Best Wishes

We have done lunch and dinner at Mama Melrose and Rose and Crown and lunch at Akershus. We go to Mama Melrose every year--we always have good food and good service. We usually alternate Rose and Crown with Biergarten every other year and have always enjoyed our meals there as well. Last year, DH wanted to try Akershus for the food (not for the princesses as we don't have girls and our boys are in college). We were not impressed; we were glad we tried it as we like to try each place once, but we didn't really care for the food at all.

I love the Rose and Crown pub. I have eaten there so many times it isn't funny. :) The food is great. The last time I ate there was in May of '07. They were wonderful with my DD. DD didn't want anything on the children's menu so they converted an adult meal to a children's meal for her. She ate a HUGE piece of fried fish and declared it the best meal of the trip. I love the food there.
Akershus- In all honesty the breakfast is fabulous. BUT it is all traditional American food. DD and I had dinner one time at Akershus. Neither of us were very impressed. The Princesses were good. The table staff was average. The food wasn't that good. I ordered an American dish and the quality just wasn't there. DD didn't like her kids meal either. I will say if they are going to put shrimp on a buffet that I paid $$ for they need to peel the shrimp. (Sorry it's a pet peeve of mine.)
