Mallory's Marathon Weekend trip report

We spent Monday at MK. I hobbled along my knee hurt Monday but was not prepared for how much worse it would get.

Was not too crowded and most were walking slow.

Went back to the rv to walk dogs but the downpour happened so no walking, and no water in the slides :cool1:. We were getting ready for the celebratory dinner. V&A's was awesome. We were celebrating finishing and my birthday. It was excellent. Came home finally walked dogs and bed.

I have to say the weekend schedule messed up mallory. It's all good now but her schedule was messed up and that is not a good thing.

First I forgot bf on Monday. Went to Trail's End. Yes I have eaten there before but after 39.3 miles. It was so awesome. I needed the salt.

Tuesday we saw my buddy off and then worked. Nothing special and went to territory lounge for dinner. I should mention Tuesday was miserable my knee hurt so much. Aching doing nothing. I can't straighten it and I can't put full weight on it.

Wednesday we started with a good walk. Had to loosen up the knee. The dogs found it as a turkey chase. Not a great pic but there were about 6 turkeys.

Later in the morning we had 12 turkeys go by it was mayhem. Worked again. My knee ached slightly less but still can't straighten it fully or put full weight on it. Think I may go to the dr when I get back.

Thankfully we are off the rest of the week.

Let's hope the knee holds up. We are going to the Tampa rv show tomorrow.

This cracks me up, but I know exactly where you are coming from. You runners are as bad as us healthcare workers. FWIW, cyclists are a much wimpier lot. I had stress fractures in each knee a year apart. The first one I only rode on for about a month before going to the doc. The second one only a week. Not because I learned from the 1st one, but because it was November and the season was over.

Hopefully the knee loosens up for you and you can enjoy the rest of the trip.

Yeah us runner types teamubr, may go. I am hoping with no running it feels better if it does start to by the time I get home probably won't go but I think I still need about 6 weeks off from running. I will focus on strengthening and stretching. My right arm is still not ok after my fall but had to give up rehabbing to run. Thanks disneypeach, while not times I was hoping for I sure proved to myself I am capable.

Time for bed this is usually the worst part. I am good for a few hours till I move and omg forget about getting up in the morning. Hoping each day a little better.

Shout out to whiplash, met him a few days ago. He is in my loop. Hoping to see iluvdisney soon too.

I have to say the weekend schedule messed up mallory. It's all good now but her schedule was messed up and that is not a good thing.

Me, I've never been to another run event that was a "destination" like the Disney runs. But as the picture of Kris shows, she's wearing her medal and an event shirt in the park. I was surprised at how many people wear the WDW shirt or medal or both when they are in the parks, out to dinner, or around their resort. (I wore my medal to dinner Saturday night).

I've heard a range of responses to this. They are:

- (from snobby runners at the event): hey, Disney's marathon weekend is not Boston.
- (from runners who go to many events): hey, it's just another medal. pretend like you've been there before.
- (from non-runners): hey, you're not going to wear that big thing out in public, are you?

I wore mine as I said. I know I'm not thin. I know I'm not fast. But I felt happy about my result given my situation. So dinner Saturday night for me at Downtown Disney was a celebration.

And for Kris running the Half and Whole Marathons in consecutive days, I bow down to such a performance. :worship:

Happy belated birthday Kris. :bday::cake:

And tell DH congrats on his Saturday results.

You should be proud of that thing. Wear it!

I'd wear it the whole time I was there. Most of the long distance charity rides I did would hand out medals too. I used to have them up in my office. Then I started sports car racing and switched them out for trophies.

Don't ever be proud of an accomplishment. The detractors are snobs or jealous.

Thursday we started with an early long walk for the dogs. I wanted them good and tired as they would be in the coach all day without us. We took a walk behind the 1800 loop. We had a beautiful view of the four seasons. It was pleasant as the sun was coming up.

Next we went to the Florida RV show. We had a great time looking at stuff we might want. We were not in the market for a nines rig since we just got ours. Fun to look though. We did buy a tire pressure monitoring system we had been looking at. Wish there were a little more supplier stuff but enjoyed ourselves. My knee was still very sore walking around but it did feel slightly better.

Got home and walked dogs again, then headed to Mizner's at the GF for dinner. The martinis were really good and helped me sleep.

Friday were went to Epcot. Did a few rides and then had lunch at Tutto Gusto. First time we went there. We really enjoyed it. Small plates, good wine, and quiet. We like the small venue adult places at epcot.

Dinner on Friday was my second bday celebration dinner at Califonia Grill. It was amazing. I had the bison, I was craving beef at this point. I did have a break through on my knee. It hurt less, it stil hurts but finally less.

Saturday started with my knee feeling better. It is not 100% at all but I am almost walking completely normal. Of course I keep walking the parks so I amnit sure if I am helping it. Started the morning with a walk. Tried to see ilovedisneymm, but they were out.

Went to MK today. I scored the ultimate FP+.

Yes I am a Frozen fan and Anna is my favorite but my pic of her on the iPhone was not as good as Elsa. Maybe when I load the pics from the real camera. Yes my favorite princesses are Anna and Merida. Merida's linewas too long so maybe next time.

We did Enchanted tales with Belle and then the talking Mickey sang Happy Birthday to me.

We are back at the rig packing up. Dinner at Trail's End and then get ready to head out in the morning.

Thanks McFlurry John for my birthday gift. It was so cute. Going to try and stop by when we are walking dogs. Hopefully you are not asleep.

It has been wonderful spending two weeks at the fort. I love the campground and my camper. Can't wait till I can retire and part time in it.

Sounds like a great time, glad to hear your knee is feeling better. I also love Bison, and am fortunate to have a farm here locally. Safe travels.

Sorry I could not catch up more Kris. It seemed that once we got some good weather, it was time to take advantage of it and enjoy some of the parks. It was really hard to stay motivated and go out at night though.

We had a wonderful time, but of course the real nice weather returned on our departure day. The trip home was uneventful and spent yesterday cleaning and winterizing the trailer. It will get to nap until March when the racing season begins.

Been a busy week at work. J I agree weather got a lot better on Friday and even better Saturday. We packed up Sunday. No issues with the drive home but got started later than we hoped. We still don't have breaking camp down and it takes us a long time to pack up. We even did the outside furniture the day before. Guess we need more practice.

We had originally planned to go to Hilton Head in March but my in laws are in fl till end of March, so back to disney at end of March for our anniversary and then a week at Hikton ?Head in May. Till then we have some things we want to do to the rig and we are going to look at modifying out RAV4 to make it flat towable.

Mallory says hi and misses all her fans.

Sounds like a wonderful plan. If I could telework more I would definitely have more trips like that planned. But since I am mostly office bound for some reason I just have to deal with what I can.

I found making a system for packing up is the best way. 48 hours before I leave after a long stay I start to put things back for travel if I wont need them again. So by Friday night most of the outside was packed minus a few items, and by bedtime the living and kitchen area was packed minus the coffee maker and well the dog toys magically end up everywhere right after putting them away.

Bedroom and bath are the last rooms done as we shower and dress. The longest delay in my departure this year was dealing with why my headlight relay gave up. Found a bad bulb that was drawing more then it should. New bulbs, new relay and I was good to go. But it was later then expected.

Glad the trip went well, hope you have a magical anniversary trip!!!

Thanks for the shout out Kris, we left Disney and spent some time at Willistion Crossings near Ocala, beautiful park and really nice people. Trip back to OHIO was rough, Tennessee and Ky. (the mountains) lots of fog and icy roads but...made it safe and sound. Enjoyed meeting you and the "pups". Give 'em a pat on the head for me. Until next time...........

Whiplash glad you made it back to Ohio. I am sure the conditions were not so great.

You enjoyed Williston Crossings? We have thought about staying there sometime. Did they have places to walk the dogs? Most importantly can Mallory get around in her cart? We like to take her on at least a mile walk. Some CGs are difficult to get that done. I have no problems with that at the Fort. Also are there places near the campground or do we need a car?

thanks

You would have no problem getting a mile walk in, all paved streets and large sites. Great people, lots of dogs, Buster and Webster, our pups made a lot of new friends. Loved the park. Here's the best part....first timers to the park can stay a whole week for $120.00! See their website. Good Sam 5 star park same as Disney. You would need a toad, Gainesville is just a few miles as is Ocala. Very quiet and peaceful.
