Mall Stores That No Longer Exist

Contempo Casuals, Merry-Go-Round, Wild Pair... What was the name of that shop that sold I.O.U. sweatshirts in every color? Anyone remember that phase?

Wild Bill's

Frank's Roman Castle (for a slice of pizza :teeth: )

Candy Craze.... I MISS that store.... TONS of bulk candy.

Apparently Michigan doesn't believe in candy stores in malls...

Pasta clothing store

Does anyone remember that one?

I used to like the Weathervane alot. There was another store too I just can't think of. It started with a C and they just sold simple clothes. A pre-old navy type. The clothes were simple and inexpensive. Wish I could remember the name.

The Limited when they sold Outback Red.......

OMG! I LOVED the Outback Red label :cloud9: It was all the rage for quite some time around here.

there is still at least one "magic pan" in san francisco (tho not located in a mall). we have spencer's here but refer to them as "the mall porn shop". orange julius is still up and running (some have combo'd with a&w's).

i miss emporium capwells (ours had a nice sit down restaurant inside), and i have'nt seen a "bedazzled" in years-i remember going there in jr. high to get supplies to make chokers (remeber the kind that were metal hoops and you could keep swapping out the beads and charms on them?).

i remember "wicks and sticks"-everyone who worked there lost their sense of smell after a few weeks :rotfl2:

Ah yes - I had a whole wardrobe of Outback Red!

I miss Casual Corner/Petite Sophisticate, they are out of business. For those of you that still "have" one, have you been there lately? They went out of business last summer and were still closing out clothing up to December in our area.

Thought of two more; Gimbels & John Wanamaker

Is the Magic Pan restaurant still around anywhere?

We had a Magic Pan in an office building I worked in during the early 80s.

I was going to mention Gimbles and JW. I grew up in near Phila and those were the stores we shopped in - maybe someone already mentioned Strawbridge's and Clothier too.

How about Hess's - (not the gas station) - it was a department store that I *THINK* had it's origins in Allentown PA. Actually not sure if the "main" store is still there or not....

Okay - I will go away now!

Ormonds, the unit, OMG have not heard of those in a LOOOONG time...
There was another store i cant remember the name of it i believe it started with the letter "B" it had the kinda stretchy type clothing but more and it was always real colorful..i believe it had different countries flags in there logo or something.

Any one have a store called HAPPY NAMES (or was that a local store).
i miss the Karamel Korn store too.... use to love watch them make the caramel popcorn...and OH THE SMELL YUM YUM!!!

Thought of some others:

Fayva (shoe store) and Bradlees (although it wasn't technically a "mall" store... I still miss it  )

Are you talking about The United Colors of Benetton? They left mainstream malls, redid themselves and are back in upscale malls

We had a kids store called Caplans at both malls that had a little shag rug slide and a little kids hair cuttery in the middle. Also Burts and Bakers shoes, I remember all the T-Shirt booth type stores in the mall where you could get the decal and iron on letters. I can still picture the big burst of steam and then that smell of the decal and letters going on the shirts! :)

Not sure if anyone has mentioned these:

Kinney's Shoes
Woolco (The Walmart sized version of Woolworth)
G.C. Murphys
Fanny Farmer Candy
Sight and Sound
Up Against the Wall - slightly punkier than Merry Go Round
Burger Chef
Swiss Pretzel Maker
Cinnabon
Warner Brother's Studio Store
The Nature Store
Garden Botanika (At least it was huge in Richmond and then disappeared)
Eagles Eye (another store that was in a few Richmond malls and disappeared)
Del Taco

And soon you will be able to add Suncoast Motion Picture Company to that list. They were sold a month or so ago and are slowly shutting down the majority of their stores.

Cinnabon is still around.

Someone mentioned Two Guys..not a mall store but I remember that from my early days!

My favorite non-mall stores once I grew up were Gold Circle and Hills....boy do I miss Hills, I loved that store.
