Why does it first open at 10 am on a Saturday.
We are sitting around our hotel room waiting for it to open.

I could have so much done by now. Is there some kind of state ordinance that it can't open till 10.

We really don't have that much time to shop, we are actually here for the weekend seeing vendors for my dd's wedding in April at historic Hope Glen Farm.

Most malls don't have the stores open until 10am I thought. Burnsville Mall in MN opens at 10am.

Mall of Georgia opens at 10am, Sugarloaf Mills Mall opens at 10am. Both are not too far from my house in Georgia which is why I checked those.

I bet you are in the mall now shopping away. Have fun!

You would think that since many of these stores are in a life and death fight with Amazon they would do whatever it takes to make shopping easier.

The malls around me don't open until ten usually, 11 on Sundays. Although in the county next door the malls are closed on Sundays

I had to look it up, but 10 am here for every mall I can find locally. I can't imagine there would be much business before then.

Why would anybody want to jump out of bed to go shopping at 10 in the morning? I'd much rather spend that time sleeping.

Yeah, until thanksgiving, seems like they were open 24 hours…..:rotfl:

You haven't been to the MOA lately then huh? We go about once a month and no matter the day of the week or the time it is always a PIA to find a parking space. Of course it is worse right now because of all the construction but it's been that way for the 4 years we have lived here.

DH, DD and her friends were there this morning as she won a Meet & Greet with The 1975.

If we were to sleep in until 10am then we would be getting an extra 6 1/2 hours of sleep. We regularly get up at 3:30 am so sleeping in we are up around 6 anyway. Waiting until 10 am to do anything would be a PITA to be honest. But I do enjoy shopping when everyone else is sleeping in!

Didn't even make it there. My dd"s convinced me to go to IKEA first. Spent an hour in there and it took an hour to check out. This is why I like shopping early morning. I hate long lines. We had to leave for my dd's appointments with various bridal things, so we never made it. I just need to go into Macys and return two dresses. I am trying to find a dress for my dd's wedding. Not fun at all.

Personally, I'd much rather do IKEA than any mall store. I would like to see MOA, but IKEA is my favorite. (no, I don't live anywhere near one, it is almost 5 hours one way!)

I also hate trying to find a dress for anything, don't even want to think about for a child's wedding! Just remember, everyone is suppose to be looking at the bride. (I typed that and then I remembered oh, but... the pictures! Good luck, OhMari!)

That Sears store looks pretty sorry. Wonder why the mall management doesn't end their lease and repurpose the space. I can't see Sears staying in business much longer at the rate they are going.

Sears is a teeny, teeny tiny fraction of the mall. MOA has no worries about being put out of business by places like Amazon. :rotfl:

Sears generally owns their real estate so don't think a lease exists. Sears is still an anchor store like Macy's, JCPenney, Nordstrom, Dillards that malls are expected to have. Interesting that a store in such a big mall is in a sorry state. Sears still is about the only store you can walk in and buy a washer, tires, mattresses, and clothing and have them price match.

Our local IKEA is a bit of a mess lately. They've discontinued some favorite items and they never have hardly anyone working checkout counters. I used to love them but I've been avoiding them lately.

Our mall doesn't open until 10 - just checked.

As a local, I avoid the MoA and IKEA on weekends. If I can't find a week day evening to go, I don't go - and starting now through mid January, I won't any closer to it than the freeway. They aren't suffering.

As for the anchor stores - those big mall department stores are all struggling - and the MoA already has one empty anchor they haven't sufficiently filled. As long as Sears pays their rent, there isn't exactly a long line of retailers wanting department store sort of space.

True about empty spaces, and if Sears owns their space, which they likely do, they aren't going anywhere.
