Mall of America

As a local, I avoid the MoA and IKEA on weekends. If I can't find a week day evening to go, I don't go - and starting now through mid January, I won't any closer to it than the freeway. They aren't suffering.

As for the anchor stores - those big mall department stores are all struggling - and the MoA already has one empty anchor they haven't sufficiently filled. As long as Sears pays their rent, there isn't exactly a long line of retailers wanting department store sort of space.

I always like seeing who else is local! I didn't realize you were.

MOA on a weekday during the day is the best time to go. My daughter loves Toddler Tuesday, even tho she's 6 now. We go a few times every summer when she doesn't have something else going on.

I'm always surprised how busy it gets on the weekend! Even during the summer. We went a few weeks ago and did some early Christmas shopping since we are celebrating with DH's family at Thanksgiving. We got there shortly after opening and left by 2 or 3 and it was really getting busy then. We will most likely stay away until after the holidays are over at this point, unless I go one day during the week. I don't head that way on weekday evenings because I want to avoid 494 during rush hour!

On a side note safe driving today! Took one of the electricians working at the house today 2 1/2 hours to get here and last week it took 40 minutes! YIKES!

The Mall of America used to have some nice unique stores years ago. One of my favorites was Kiwi Beach. Many of these stores are no longer there and instead you have several Bath and Body, American Eagles etc taking their place. It's just a very big mall now with a lot of familiar stores you can find anywhere.

Agreed. If it wasn't for the amusement park it would just be another big mall. The rides are still great for little kids but the last few years my daughter has preferred going to the water park at the Radisson down the street from the Ikea store.
