or both. Just a few questions.

Which of these malls are bigger.

And which is closer, as we are staying at AKL.

If we get a cab, is it better to get it from DTD.

Would it be easy to get a bus at least from one to the other, if we wanted to do both.

TIA

Distance, they are both approx 15 miles from Disneyworld.

Mall at Millenia is bigger. But both are good to shop. They have a lot of similar shops in both so it may be worthwhile looking to see which has most of the shops you want.

It is normally better to get cabs from DTD. It is not a great deal different in cost to get a cab from the resort.

Unfortunately, I can't help with the bus question. We normally rent a car on our trip.

Happy shopping.

Not sure about Florida Mall, but I think it would be pretty expensive for a cab to Mall of Millenia. It is (if I remember correctly) on the west side of downtown Orlando.
Personally I wasn't all that impressed with that mall. Unless you want the high end designer stores since that is pretty much what is there.

I'm going to move this to our Orlando board.

The Mall at Millenia is a double-decked upscale mall anchored by Neiman-Marcus, Bloomingdales and Macys, with another 145 or so stores, food options and kiosks. The Mall is located off Conroy Road, just off exit 78 of I-4 (about 3 or 4 miles northeast of the Universal Studios exit).

The Florida Mall is a more traditional mall with J.C. Penney, Macys, Dillards, Nordstrom, Sears and Saks Fifth Avenue as the anchors, plus about 210 other shops, food places and kiosks. The Florida Mall is, by far, the larger of the two malls - both in terms of number of stores and square footage.

As another poster mentioned, the distance from AKL to either of these malls is about the same - 15 to 20 miles - but I'd think that a taxi might cost a little more to the Florida Mall because more of the travel is along Orlando streets rather than the mostly highway travel to the Mall at Millenia. While I don't know what the actual cost would be, I suspect that you'd pay around $45 or so for a one-way taxi to either of these malls.

Thank you. I did go on their sites and there are stores for each that I would like to go to. That is why I was wondering about getting a bus from one to the other. Since they also "seem" close to one another. I may try to get a rental, if I can get one at a good deal.

So, if we got a cab to Millenia, since it may be cheaper, would taking a bus from Millenia to Florida Mall be easy?

Thanks

I'm not sure that it would be particularly easy. I'd guess that bus routes go by, or near, both of those malls but I don't know if there's a direct route between them. I'd suggest going to the Lynx bus website to check routes and travel times.

Good luck!

Thanks for that. I just went on that Lynx site and I swear they look so close together. :rotfl:I believe they are only a couple miles apart, which is why I wouldn't want to do a cab, from one to the other, if we are going to do both. Are they actually walking distance.

No, you can't walk. Even if you could the area between the two malls is dangerous. If it were me I would take a cab. Easier and faster, and like I said the area is not the best.

Yep, looks close on those little Google maps, etc., but it's about 5 miles between the two malls. And, as Art 1 says, not the nicest part of the Orlando area separates them. I wouldn't be remotely comfortable suggesting that you should walk.

On our last trip we looked at getting a bus from Downtown Disney to the Florida Mall and decided against it after getting the schedule from the front desk of our resort. If you do decide to go that route plan on spending a lot of time just traveling there and back. IMO your best bet is to look for a deal on a rental car. Much easier and this way you will have the car if you decide you want to stop somewhere else.

Thank you both for that!

This will be the way to go, if we can get a good deal. :yay:Thanks

I would just rent a car for that day of the shopping, and you can do both malls and the Outlets!

I prefer MoM since it's newer and cleaner and in a nicer area! But it is mostly upscale shopping.

FM has more kind of everyday shops and some fun ones, but I dont care for that mall (Ive worked in it for a few years)

We loved Florida Mall (have never been to MoM though). Actually the last two times we have broken our WDW stay with a night (or two ;)) at the Hotel attached to Florida Mall (can't remember the name, used to be called the Florida Mall Hotel). It was great. Walk right out of the hotel and you are in the middle of the mall. We found it good because some one who had had enough of shopping could easily go back to the hotel and relax and the others could continue.

We also go a bus from the mall to the outlet shopping.

Still we are 'shoppers' and from New Zealand so shopping in USA is very exciting for us!

That must have been an experience, staying at that hotel right at the mall. We loved it when we got to stay at they Hyatt at MCO. Just not sure if I would take away from my Disney stay (this time AKL) to stay there. But I said I would love to book a night at Hyatt at MCO at the end of every Disney trip.:thumbsup2 So relaxing and did not have to rush to get on plane.

But I did "book" a car rental for 2 days, since we are going Mall(s) shopping and US/IOA. It came to about $88, but I'm sure I can do better. So I will keep checking. I had quoted with a mears taxi and it came to about $168 for ALL. But I still have time.

Thanks
