Makinon 80-200mm lens

Dad just bought me a Makinon 80-200 telephoto zoom lens for the Canon A1. However, other than the basic focus and zooming functions, I don't really know anything about it.

So, how good is this lens? Is there a manual I can find somewhere online? What are your experiances with it? What kind of case would be best for it? Anything else I need to know?

I did some research online, and found the lens is supposedly a Maxxum mount, also sold under the names Five Star, Focal, and a couple others. So, can anyone help with the questions in my first post? I'm new to SLR photography, and don't really know much about it, much less which lens are good and which aren't.

I'd love to know about the lens- the good, the bad, the ugly.

As a third party lens, it likely can come in various mounts. You should be able to see what mount it is made for from the packaging. I know nothing about it.

Thanks. Unfortunately, I don't have the packaging. We bought it at a camera repair shop, and the lens came without anything (including lens caps). All I know is what is written on the lens itself and that isn't much.

I have that exact same lens. I am about to put it up for sale. May I ask how much you paid for it and/or where you bought it.

I live in the Louisville area.

Sorry, I do not know anything about how to use the equipment, but a lot of photo equipment was left to me in a will.

Well, here is a thread from the dead! It was over a year ago. I do not believe Independence1776 is one of our regulars, so you are probably better off sending a private message if you want that particular person to answer.

PS. I used to live in Louisville before moving to SWFL. I grew up in Ashland.
