Seems like I read a thread a while back about someone bringing their Magic Bullet and making their own mixed drinks in their room. Is this worth doing? If so, what do people put in their drinks? Do you have a favorite recipe? Something that would be good with and without alcohol. I'm not a big drinker, so I really don't know any good drink recipes.

I love Bailey's and milk......I bring a bottle on board with me, get ice from stateroom host and milk from room service or deck 9. Yummy!

I can tell you that bringing my own blender, mixers and alcohol is definitely worth it!! :rolleyes1 I am local in FL though and drive to the port, so luggage space or weight is not a concern for me. You can make all kinds of drinks! Fruit from breakfast makes wonderful smoothies, or frufru drinks with or without alcohol. Kahlua and milk along with some ice cream from the self serve on deck 9 makes a great Kahlua milkshake. :thumbsup2 If you don't want to go the blender route... you can always use the beverages at the station on deck 9 as mixers and just bring vodka or rum and make a variety of drinks. Hard lemonade, rum & coke, high test fruit punch etc.
Or just bring a bottle of wine, get some glasses at the bar or from room service and just sit back and enjoy! ;)

I find drinks on board to be pretty pricey and if I can save a little bit on that, I can cruise more often!! I appreciate the fact that Disney allows you to bring some on board and I hope they don't change that policy any time soon!!

I brought my new magic bullet on our last cruise!
Now granted we ended up in a cat 3 and that made it enormously easier to use (using the bar area)- but I imagine I'd still bring it even though we'll probably never be able to upgrade to a cat 3 again. LOL

I'm not much of a drinker (honestly- we haven't drank, except on Disney cruises, in 15+years and even on the cruises we don't drink much. So we buy and bring it with us.... and then end up not drinking it. :lmao: But atleast that costs us less than if we bought drinks on the ship here and there and didn't drink those! (yes it would happen. Even the captain's gala free drinks ended up going down the sink because we "forgot" to drink them)

I make frou-frou drinks.... pina colada, strawberry daiquri's, fuzzy navel I think they are called? (orange juice, peach schnapps and something else I forget now LOL) I don't really like wine or champagne. Basically if I end up drinking anything- it's gotta taste like it's not alcoholic.

I guess I have a different mindset, and I must not much of a drinker.
I go on a cruise to be pampered. Making my own smoothies or foo foo drinks in the stateroom is not being pampered.
And given the astronomical average price a Disney cruiser pays, I think I could save more by just downgrading one stateroom category.

Dude, I don't drink enough to want to give up a category in room! LOL We usually bring it to save money, then don't end up drinking it. We're weird that way, I guess. LOL

We used ours everyday. With more than one mug for blending We left our room door open and ended up having a great time just before the show. First night our neighbor saw us will our adult smoothies heading to the shows. They asked were we got them. I told them we made them. I offer to make some for them. We were in a sideways cat 11 room. It was easy to use, I brought a powerstip with a 12 foot cord. Next day, neighbors took us up on our offer. I had their kids go up and get a bunch of mellon and strawberries, ice cream and cholocate milk and we made alkinds of smoothies, by the 4night it became a standard routine before the show, we all had late dining. 4 rooms and 12 smoothies each night. Adults we I had flavored vodka and rum, we had a wonderful evening. Afternoons we made blended versions of the bahamma mamma. got Large OJ from bar for 2 bucks then made the drinks with flavored rum and the OJ. The OJ from the bar was a more concentrated version of OJ, not water down as much. They were great. We didn't spend any money on bar tab except for one drink in the martini lounge. We enjoy the apple ones.

We rarely drink either. We had more fun visiting and having a pre show party with the kids enjoying their specially concocked smoothies, with what they put together. Then need to have this as an event in the kids clubs. It was fun.

Mind you, I don't have any young kids my dd is 24. .. I wish I had some pictures.

Last cruise I didn't take the magic bullet and we missed it. I'll be taking it next time and take less clothing. We always took to much of that. Now that there is easy access to the plug behind the flat panel tv's it will be easier to use. Cat 11 side was a great room for people coming and going.

Only thing that would make it even better would be to have a real frig.

I wonder if we can take our magic bullet in carry on luggage to Barcelona? Seriously I don't know if we can.
Our last trip we took it because we drove (WDW trip before the cruise.) But for the Barcelona trip we're planning on ATTEMPTING to do only carryon luggage. Yes I realize that's going to be hard for a TA (ie: long) cruise- but I don't want to risk our luggage disappearing- I've heard a lot of stories about that happening last time. Yes it's going to be difficult to only do carryon luggage for all 5 of us, but I'm going to give it a go.
I just don't know if we can take a magic bullet in carryon luggage?

Making my own smoothies or foo foo drink
Apologies in advance, but I can't help myself...

"Foo Foo" is a little bunny. Umbrella Drinks are "frou-frou"

Getting back to the topic, what are the rules on blenders on DCL? Is anything allowed. Only certain types? Do they have to be pre-approved?

So what is in a Bahama Mama? How did you make the strawberry daquiri? Did you bring one of those drink mixer bottle things? I've never made a drink in my life ( like I said, I'm not much of a drinker) but I do like frou frou drinks

Making a mental note........add "magic bullet" to list of items for cruise;)

bahama mama has dark & light rum in it. pineapple and orange, not sure about the rest. I don't care much about them as I don't like pineapple but dh loves them.

BTW.....On doing a B2B I ordered another bottle of Bailey's to be delivered to the room (they deliver it on the last night) and I had it for the next cruise. :cool1:

I guess then you won't want to get any drink ideas then from this website.;)

I was wondering if I could bring a 6 pack of beer in my luggage or if I would not be allowed to bring it onboard? Personally I have a problem with paying $5.00 for a beer when I can get a 6 pack for that at most convenience stores.

In a carry on.........I don't think I would risk it in my luggage. pirate:

I love hearing the Magic Bullet is brought onboard!!! My BFF and I use hers often.....I just wish she was coming on our Nov cruise...cause that would add a whole new level to our fun!! But, no BFF...no Bullet! :(

If you don't have a Bullet.. you can pick up a little "travel blender" at WalMart for around $12-$13! I started with that, but now I have a bullet. I think it was Hamilton Beach and it worked just great. :thumbsup2
