Making the most out of a Birthday button! 8/28-9/4

So Saturday came too early. It was our last few hours at WDW before heading back to NJ. I finished packing all the things and called bell services to get our stuff. DH decided to hang back in the room for a while, while DS and I went to MK for opening.

It was a beautiful, sunny day. We headed to DS's new favorite ride first SM with some fun seeig this guy and playing with bubbles along the way.

There was only about a 10 minute wait and we were off into space. DS gets off the ride and he is just all giddy. Saying things like that was awesome and Woo Hoo! A CM hears him and approaches him and asks if he really likes the ride, to which he replies yes and starts telling her about the stars and the black hole. So she asked us to follow her and we were taken back where the CM walk and taken to the front of the line! A second ride before 930! This was so great for DS. So after our special ride on SM he wants to go to the Laugh Floor and try to get up on screen. He put his birthday button on just for this reason today. So we now know the entire show by heart because this is our 4th or 5th show this trip, but when Marty comes out and asks the kids to raise their hands, he picks..............................DS!!!!!!!!!!!!

So they talk about DS's birthday and where he's from. This was the best thing that happened in DS's mind this trip! So once again the Birthday Button gave us some Magic!
Next up to my dismay was SGE. As we got off the ride DH called and said he was at the park so he met us in tomorrowland and then we rode BLSS one last time and headed to the other side of the park to do the other 2 mountains.

We got soaked, and I mean dripping wet clothes soaked on Splash. So we rode BTMRR 2 times in a row to try and dry off. We then headed to Tom Sawyer Island. A first for all of us. We looked for the paint brush, but no luck. We spent awhile here, very relaxing and quiet.

(DS wanted popcorn and we told him when we got off the island, hence the grumpy face)

So then we exited the island and let DS get his popcorn, we had a few snack credits to use. We found a spot in the shade by LTT and listened to the band while DS ate his popcorn. Then we headed back toward Main St.

DH and I each got an ice cream sandwich at the bakery. This was a first and my Goosh it was awesome. So huge! So we watched the Celebration parade and ate our sandwiches before heading out to go back to the lodge.

It always makes me sad to leave MK for the last time. I know I'll get back some day. But as soon as I leave those gates, I miss it.
We went back to the lodge, grabbed some lunch with our last CS credits and sat by the pool to eat. I went to get our carry on from bell service so we could all put fresh shirts on for the plane ride home. All of our shorts were still soaked from our morning ride on Splash!
We got on the ME to MCO, but first a parting shot

We got home safe and sound, with Wonderful memories that will last a lifetime.
UP NEXT- Photopass shots

What a great way to end a Disney vacation......bonus ride on Space Mountain, getting chosen during The Laugh Floor and ice cream! Nothing better than that.

I get the same feeling when we leave the Magic Kingdom for the last time. Even though you know you'll be back, it's still sad saying goodbye.

Oh I hate that the trip report is over so soon. It seems like you just got to Disney!

Love all of the Photopass pictures.

Great review, Tami! We are going the exact same time next year. Can't wait to go. How hot was it compared to Jersey in the summer? The same? We are used to the heat and humidity here, even though it always seems to be a little more in Fl, though.LOL. Your pictures are great. Do you think it was worth it for the price of the photopass? Thanks in advance for the answers. And thanks for the great review!!:thumbsup2

Thanks for reading. We were really lucky that it was only in the high 80's low nineties with breezes everyday. It was hot the last day we were there, but no hotter than here in Jersey and it's easy to cool off between getting wet on water rides and air conditioned indoor attractions. We took our spray fan, but only ended up taking it to the parks one day.
I love the photopass and didn't utilize it as much this trip, never got family photos at MK or Epcot. But if you are a family with a scrapbooker or like to have many photos it's definitely worth it. I like it so that there are photos of me on the trip and DS and I are going without DH in a few weeks so I will be on the lookout for the photopass photogs!

How is FQ, we've never stayed there? DS is worried the waterslide won't be as fun as WL and SSR.

Have fun on your upcoming trip and happy planning!

Thanks for the answers. We did love FQ.In regards to the waterslide, my kids liked it well enough, but they are a little older than your son. So to them a waterslide is a waterslide, but they do still enjoy them. We were going to go again this trip, but decided on POP so we could go for a longer time. So we will have more days at Disney and a smaller room. But that's ok. We have never tried POP, yet.

You are so lucky the weather was so decent for you. We went one other time in August for BIL's wedding at Disney. We survived it then, so I am sure we will survive it this time. PLus we get the bonus of Free Dining!! I can't believe my soon to be 16DS agreed to go to Disney again. But I have Celiac Disease(diagnosed a couple of years ago)and have to go Gluten Free and I have heard Disney is so accomodating to people with allergies. So he agreed to go again, even though he is a teenager and we have been 5 times already. DD and I love it, so we are thrilled to go again, plus I get the bonus of actually being able to eat and feel safe about it.

It's great that you and your son get to go again soon. Enjoy it while he still likes going. Teenagers can be tough with their opinions. LOL. Wish us luck with the heat next summer. Have a good time on your next trip and thanks again for the review with the great pictures!!:goodvibes

Also if you have any other questions about FQ, please ask. I will try to remember. We did like the larger room, compared to the values. It also had a very quiet and serene atmosphere. But it a good way. Very nice and relaxing. We ended up it the furthest building from the food court, but we really didn't mind the walk. It is very pretty. I am sure you will really enjoy it. It's not as fun as some of the other resorts maybe, but I believe your son will still like it. Have a nice trip!!
