Making Sure I Can Get from MK to WL for Dinner

I have been reading a number of the posts on this board and just want to get the advice of the experts on one thing . . .

We will be at WDW the week of 5/9. On Wednesday evening, 5/11, we plan to visit the Magic Kingdom. We are staying on property and want to take advantage of the Bonus Evening Hours.

I have a priority seating at the Wilderness Lodge for the Whispering Canyon Cafe for dinner at 7:40pm.

Here is the hitch that I just thought of yesterday . . . I understand that the wristbands for the resort bonus hours are only available two hours before park closing (7pm for a 9pm closing).

The Transportation Question . . . will we have time to pick up our wristbands and get to the Whispering Canyon Cafe by 7:40pm.

Will we have any trouble getting back to MK and into the park to enjoy the bonus hours after dinner?

I wanted to mix up our dining experiences but I don't want to risk missing the extra time without crowds at the MK.

Any advice and coaching is greatly appreciated!

You should have plenty of time to get your bands right at 7 and take the boat to the WL. Also remember (on your way back to MK) the small boats go from WL to the Contemporary, so if the smaller boat arrives at the dock first ask if the boat is going to CR (because they also go to Fort Wilderness) and take that boat you can walk to MK or take the monorail to get back to MK. Enjoy your trip and I am sure you will really enjoy Whispering Canyon!!

You can get your wrist bands anytime after 7...you can get them at 9 or 10 or 11, right up until emh ends. just get your hand stamped for reentry and you are set.

I'm in the same position as OP. Are you saying I can get a writst band AFTER normal park hours, actually DURING the EMH? In other words, if MK closes at 9, I can get a wristband at 10? How does that work? How will I get back in without a wristband even if my hand is stamped from earlier in the day?

Yes, you would get a wrist band at the turnstyles ANYTIME during EMH
