We are considering adding the dining plan to our Aug. visit. What is the latest possible time I can add this and tickets to our room only reservation? I heard 72 hours but I just want to be sure. I know I will have to pay the full amount when I change the reservation but will there be any fees involved and can I still keep my room only discount?

A package is just that - a package. It usually includes the room at rack rate, tickets for everyone in the group and the dining plan for everyone in the group for the entire length of stay. And it may depend on whether or not the package is still available.

The best way to find out is to call CRO and ask them directly if it is possible.

A package does not necessarily include a room at rack rate. Every time I call to change something minor such as a request they ask me if I want to add tickets and dining to my already discounted room. I just didn't know if anyone knew the time frame involved in doing this.

we are also going in August, the last week and want to add tickets and the ddp. I was under the impression as is the OP that I would keep the discounted room rate but of course would need to pay everything at once since it will be less than 45 days. I just was not clear on when was the absolute latest I could call and add these options.

72 hours for dining plan, 48 hours to add tickets to make a package. Keep in mind your room only res will be cancelled and the money refunded and the new package must be payed in full.

You won't get a discount on the room in a "package" unless they have a room available for that package discount.

In my opinion, the dining plan has lost all it's value since it changed in January. I wouldn't get the dining plan. I would just wait till you get to WDW and purchase tickets seperately so you don't lose your room only discount.

I Just changed my room only ressie to a package and we leave in 2 wks. This is what happen with mine:
I had a room ressie only with an AP discount.I wanted to change it and add the DDP. First they had to see if there was room avalable with an AP rate and the DDP(they only so many rooms for certain types of discounts) When CRO found an opening they booked it as a package and I had to pay the enitre balance in full. They then went into the system and canceled the room only ressie and I have to wait for my CC to get refunded the amount I already paid(which was the entire amount).
I hope this makes sense. I did get a new set of ME tags and they said my vouchers and luggage tags are in the mail.(now that its a package I'm get those)

I would make sure that they have a room opening with a package(DDP) before you cancel your room only ressie.

I just change my room only to a package w/tickets - we are 20 days out. We had a 40% off code on the room, I had paid 1 night's stay as a deposit, and the cm charged my card for the balance of the room and the tickets - I know for certain because she repeated the amount she was charging my card and it was less the one day deposit

Edited to add: Just called back to ask if I could add the dining plan and they told me that I really didn't have a package, just a room only reservation, and tickets - I was under the impression from the cm I spoke to that my reservation was turned into a package, and that was not the case.

They had to cancel out my room only and tickets, and re-book a new package - they had to refund my original credit card then make a new charge for the entire package.

Were you allowed to keep your 40% off room reservation? When did you make your original reservations and when was your 40% good until. We want to add dining but I have to book my 40% by March 30th. I am afraid that since we are past the date that they will not let me keep my discount in which case we will not add dining.

We were allowed to keep the 40% off, since I turned it into a package, they had to check w/guest services first to make sure that there was still availability left under that "code" - I made my original reservations back in January, my sister got a post card in the mail and she and I both booked room only at that time, she has since cancelled because they decided to go somewhere else - I believe that postcard expired at the end of March.

From what they told me, since I booked w/the code, I would never lose the room or the rate, they would just switch it over to package - has something to do w/the room only reservation being one part of the disney company, and the packages being another part.

Thank you for your replies. I called today and changed my room only to a package. It took some doing since the Poly is sold out and I told them not to cancel anything until the new reservation was confirmed. The CM was very helpful and reassured me that I would not lose my existing reservation until everything was in place. It did take about 1/2 hour since she had to go through Guest Services. We kept our room discount but I think I was charged the new ticket price (and by the way for anyone checking ticket prices on line, make sure you add the 6.5% tax which in not included until you actually put the tickets in your cart). For some reason the new package price came up about $100.00 more than I had figured. The only thing I can think of is I didn't figure in tax on the tickets and then the increase in price.

Okay, I have a question about changing a room only ressie into a package if a code comes out. I've asked elsewhere, also, and will try here.
Last Sun I called to book a package at CBR on 11/14-23/08. I wanted to use my AAA to at least get that discount if nothing comes out or works for that time. Well, I found I couldn't do that, I could only get room only ressie with AAA, no package, tickets were separate, he reminded me tickets were going up soon. I asked if a discount code came out as they have in the past, could I apply it to my ressie and he said yes. I thought asked about it being a package, or that's what we talked about, but not really sure. It is just my DD18 and I. We've never purchased DDP and might have this yr, but with change of gratuity added on top of cost, it's not worth it. Now I 'm wondering if I jumped the gun and shouldn't have purchased tickets  I really wanted a rm/tkts package to hold a room to apply a discount when it comes out. I'm confused on whether I can do that now. If a code comes out I'd like to cancel AAA discount and group my room with the tickets I bought (10 day hoppers) that the guy encouraged with rising ticket prices. If I had to buy one day tkts to convert, it would be 149 added on to our trip for tickets I can't use right now. That pretty much seems to wreck the code discount if I get one.:scared:

So, restating, does anyone know if they'll take my tickets and ressie and combing them into a package for me? What if I drop AAA, can they combine my room with my purchased tkts to make a package to possibly be able to apply a discount? I just wish, in a way, I hadn't been so anxious to suddenly book my room, I'd been waiting a while, and also have had air tkts since late may.
