Is it hard to get a std studio or std 1 bed at AKL at 7 mths? Thinking more the off times, Jan. usually stay for about 10-12 night.

How about BLT in the same categories?

(Thinking about buying resale but at SSR because of cheaper price per point...)

For January, you should be able to get either an AKV 1 bedroom standard view or a standard studio at 7 months. Value & concierge categories will be gone by then.

It is very unlikely that any standard view villas will be available at BLT at 7 months. Those are usually gone shortly after the 11 month window opens. Lake view villas will probably be available for January at 7 months.

All that said, you could have a problem getting 10-12 consecutive nights at the same resort if your dates include marathon weekend, especially at any of the near-park resorts.

An AKV reservation is certainly feasible. Jambo House tends to be more popular, because of amenities, so 10-12 consecutive nights would likely be attainable at Kidani Village.

We own at SSR and while we like it there just fine we prefer to resort hop from trip to trip so that each trip is different from the last. We just stayed in a std. studio at Jambo House at AKV in January over MLK weekend in fact. We have used points at AKV several times when we were on a tight "points budget". We had a std. studio at Kidani over spring break a couple of years ago and a studio at BLT over spring one year too. No problems getting in for either trip. But I also USUALLY try to book right at the 7 month window.

We have now been able to use our points to book at all of the WDW DVC resorts (except for the newest, VGF) as well as all of the offsite resorts like HHI, VB, VGC and Aulani. We'll let the hype settle down at VGF first before we try to book there. It's what I call a "points hog" and I'm not sure it's "our style" so it's doubtful we'll plan to stay there during a high point season or for a long trip. But very excited to stay at VGC and Aulani this summer!!
