So you can make a reservation at your home resort 11 months out. What if you want to stay at another resort? At 7 months can you cancel or change your reservation and make a new reservation at your non home resort?

Yes, subject to availability. If no availability for room size/view, you can go on the waitlist for the other resort.

You can cancel any reservation with no penalty up to 31 days in advance.

Yes, subject to availability. If no availability for room size/view, you can go on the waitlist for the other resort.

Note that you don't cancel your home resort reservation until you're sure there's availability at the resort you want to change to at 7 months. That can be tricky when trying to make a highly desired ressie like a BWV studio during F&W, because there's a risk of losing the new ressie while canceling the first. There's a way to minimize that risk but I don't have the link to the relevant DIS post.

And if you waitlist, you don't cancel your home resort ressie then either - you can set up the waitlist to do that for you if/when the waitlist comes through.
