I am planning a family trip for next May for our family. It will be myself and DW in a Studio, DS44 in another studio and DD, DSIL and two grandchildren in a third studio. Planning to stay at AKL-Jambo. I have never organized a trip with three rooms and basically I am coordinating/planning everything.

First, I will be making the reservations at 7 months. Is there anyway I can make the reservation for all three rooms at once? In other words, if I can't get all three rooms at 7 months, I don't want to get any and we'll try another resort.

Second, I will have DD's room in her and DSIL's names with their contact information (address, etc.). But DS44 knows nothing about WDW, DVC, etc. nor does he care. He just knows he's going to WDW next year with us and will have his own room. So, is it okay to have his name on the reservation but as far as the contact information (address, phone #, email address, etc.) all of that would go to me? He would have no clue if he started getting emails about Magic Bands, etc. (in fact he hardly ever looks at email).

This is going to be an interesting trip. DSIL is not a Disney person and DS44 doesn't like crowds (or children). I see him spending a lot of time in his room, sitting on his balcony watching the animals.

Book all three reservations online using you name and contact info, faster than using other names. After confirmation, you can email MS to correct info and add "traveling with" to each reservation. If Jambo doesn't work out, plan on staying at Kidani.

You have to book each room one at a time. You cannot put three rooms in a cart then check out, or similar.

Have you thought about a 2bdrm and studio or a GV. The reason I mention this is then the better chance you will be all closer together. If you have 3 studios you might be on either end of the resort from each other. Plus with the 2 bdrm you get a room you can all meet in and relax.

Thanks for this information as I will be attempting the same thing as the OP

I have booked three studios for family members traveling at the same time at SSR.
As PP, stated you will have to book each room separately.
As PP, stated e-mail, call, or chat with MS and have a "Travel with" noticed placed on all three reservations of the other two reservation numbers. This way the CM doing the room assignment can look at your requests and know that they apply to all three reservations. Also, place any request(s) for room location, etc through MS and do NOT put any request(s) in when doing online check-in as the online system over-rides any put in through MS.
When I put in my request we requested the same building for all the rooms; we not only got the same building but the same floor which was great for the three studios.
DW & I arrived early at SSR and I was able to check-in all three rooms. Two of the rooms were online check-in and one was not. Inform the CM at check-in what you want to do and they can be most helpful.

Either of those plans would use up a LOT more points than his current plan of 3 studios. Plus I know if I was traveling with extended family I would want my own space when in the room. I would personally prefer 3 studios for both of these reasons...

OP - when I recently booked a 2nd studio for DS and his friend I put their names on the room as the occupants but my address and contact info. As com_op_2000 noted I had them note "traveling with" on the reservations so we can hopefully be in the same building (at SSR).

It's also a "safer" plan if one's traveling companions decide to back out. Owner doesn't get left "holding the bag" for a bigger room than wanted, and depending on timing and status of points used (banked, borrowed, current) owner may be able to "save" the points used for the cancelled room for another trip. No one likes to think their guests will back out on them, but it happens. Based only on the reports here on the DIS, families are more often guilty of this than friends. :)

For large groups I've booked large rooms and all studios. For the sake of everyone's sanity, stay with the 3 studios. At booking, I just put one name for the group and my contact information. Then I complete the reservation and contact info at a later date. I also call MS and request that the group of rooms be as close to each other as possible. (I believe MS refers to it as "traveling with") So far, the only resort that has done this is BWV. Never had any luck at BLT, but I've got my fingers crossed for our 3 studios in July. Have fun!
