Making reservations for family members

Here's my situation:

I have booked DH, DD, and myself 10 nights POFQ w/ dining and Magical Express through AAA. BIL and MIL are thinking of joining us for part of that time and want us to make all the arrangements...since we're the Disney experts. Well, how do I do this? Make the ressie in my name and check them in myself? Can I make the ressie in their name but put my deposit down? Do I need to "change" my ressie to 2 rooms...even though we're not there at the exact same dates? Do I need to "attach" these reservations together or something?

I'm confused. How do you guys make all the arrangements for all of your family members?

It will be pretty easy! You can call and make the reservation in their name. Disney will not ask for an address or phone number, just the names. You can have them link the two reservations together, and ask for adjoining rooms. They will not guarantee it, but they do their best to honor requests.

Then, you can use your own credit card for the deposit, or if you have their credit card number you can use that.

Yes, they will book the reservations for other people when you call. But I would have their addresses available for each family. The USPS sometimes will not deliver mail to a person who does not reside at an address (mail for Mr. Smith at your address, for example.)

As far as payments are concerned, they can accept payment from anyone and will ask you for the name and billing address for that person when the payment is taken and that does not affect the mailing address for Disney confirmations.

Furthermore, it will keep them from asking you when you call for future visits, "Is so-and-so traveling? How 'bout so-and-so?" hence creating a record of 8+ people on your record permanently. Many people her complain that everytime they call for a reservation for their family of four, they are asked if their brother's ex-girlfriend's sister's cousin is travelling since she traveled with them once 5 years ago and now she is a permanent part of their record.

Just my .02 on why it makes everything easier in the long run if you just book each room with the correct information for that room so that it saves you frustration in the future.

I made reservations for both my family, as well as a separate res for my parents, with no problem. They did ask for my parents' names, address, phone, and I booked it with their credit card. No big deal. But, when I called to change from a room-only to a package, they would not allow me to make changes to the reservation. I basically had to call back and say I was my mom and give her info (name, address etc) to change the reservation. Again, not a big deal, just something to keep in mind.

And yes, do ask them to "link" the reservations together. At least that way, when the room assigner gives you your rooms, you can hopefully be put relatively close to one another.

You can have them link the two reservations together, and ask for adjoining rooms.

If you want the two rooms to have a common door between them, then you must ask for "connecting" rooms.. not "adjoining" rooms. Adjoining rooms are rooms next to each other without a door to connect them to each other.
