I just put an offer in for a re-sale which was accepted - now I need to wait on ROFR. They told me it could take 3-4 weeks before I know if they accept it. I have a trip planned for mid November which I would like to use my points for if all goes well. What do you think the chances are that I will be able to book a 1 Bedroom? I'm really not choosy about which DVC Resort I stay at.

I don't think you will have any chance to use points for November if you don't even close for 6 weeks or more. There is very little availability now for November.

What if I didn't stay at a DVC Resort? Say I stayed at CBR, CS, CR, AKL, etc. What do you think the chances are with any of them?

Unless you have alot of points I wouldn't count on that either since it costs more points to stay at another WDW resort that is not DVC. I don't know what is it but you would probably do better just booking through CRO for a November trip.

I already have reservations at CS for Nov. 16-22. I was just hoping that if all went well with the sale that I could cancel what I have and reserve using my points - that would save me the $991 I will spend for CS.

I just checked the points charts. Coronado Springs std view in Nov would be 18 pts/night Sun-Thur and 32 pts/night for Fri-Sat nights. A sun-Sat trip would be 154 points. That's a crazy amount of points for a moderate level resort... That's close to what 1BR DVC unit costs. You would be better of paying cash for the $991 and renting out your DVC points. Even at $10/point, you make back your $991 and pocket an extra $500+/-.

But,if you're hoping to not pay the cash, points would be possible.

as long as you have a back up plan i would think positively since you are flexible for resorts. granted we booked just a month out for a slower season(mid sept) but I was worried as well. I did have a back up reservation for CSR. things worked out tho.

Your other option is to bank those points or save them for use next trip depending when they are expired etc.. you can ask the current owner to do that now for you if needed due to a time Uy issue. The seller we bought from banked some older points for us.

I would think you'd have a decent chance of success, just make sure you get everything done as fast as possible. Ask them to set closing right at 30 days and you should be able to get into the system by 60 days if you pass ROFR. Keep your cash option until you know. Also check you're banking deadlines to see if it'd be better to ask the seller to bank the points instead and not take the chance. Don't forget about the wait list.
