DH is not a Disney fan. He has however, been outnumbered by Disney lovers and therefore will be going on the trip with us. I think we are going to drive so that he can stop at one of his favorite restaurants on the way down and take one day off from Disney to head to the beach for a fishing trip. I already have ADRs for the 2 restaurants he has requested (Ohana and San Angel) but I need other ideas. I have a feeling that he will spend most of the week hanging out with the older kids while I take the little one on the smaller rides (he will be happy to at least be able to skip Small World). Other ideas?

Men are simple creatures. I am sure that you can work out ways to keep him happy...

Are the older kids old enough to watch the little ones one evening while the two of you go out to dinner alone? They could get pizza to eat in the room or something while the two of you have some adult conversation.

:lmao:

To the OP.....I think it's great that you're keeping him in mind while planning. I wouldn't worry about it too much, though. There's nothing wrong with the parents splitting up so that the older kids can do older kid stuff. If that's more his thing, well then it's a perfect option for him. Of course, I don't think I'd have him with the older ones every part of the day. I'm sure he'd like some one on one time with the little one, doing little one stuff. Schedule that in there too.

My husband likes the bigger rides but my kids didn't last year. He used fastpasses to ride them while I took the kids to a play area and/or got them a snack. No big deal.

The whole family enjoyed Disney Quest very much. DH was able to play to his big boy heart's content. :thumbsup2

If he likes fishing Disney has Bass Fishing Excursions. There is also Golf. maybe a ride along in NASCAR race car! But if this is your first time I really thing that he is going to be loving watching your kids.

Just enjoy!:dance3:

My situation is similar to yours la79...I finally convinced my DH to take a family trip down to WDW this coming April. I really wanted to stay at a nice deluxe resort but decided to compromise a bit by staying at FT wilderness cabins, this way he can enjoy nature! Even if you do not stay at this resort, there are tons of stuff to do, such as: horse back riding, fishing, campfire etc. Maybe he will enjoy exploring the grounds for a day. I have also planned some alone time with him,at least one evening to go out and let him choose what we should do, dinner, show, attractions, in other words let him call the shots for a little bit!;)

My DH sooooo did not want to do a disney trip. We are going back for 7 days in March. My secret......food. Ohana's is a great one, believe it or not so is Crystal Palace. We also never miss the Brown Derby. I keep him happy with the food and the rest falls in place. You also need to teach him the art of the Fast Pass if he'll be with the older kids. Good Luck..don't stress if you are calm and don't worry, he'll be disneyized before you know it. :wizard:

My DH's favorite things:

1. Beer at the German Pavilion in Epcot
2. Steak at Le Cellier
3. Ice Cream at Ghiardelli's in Downtown Disney
3. Beer at the England Pavilion in Epcot
4. We got a sitter from Kids Nite Out and went to EMH at Magic Kingdom alone. On another trip, when got a sitter from the same company and had dinner at Le Cellier on our own.
5. Mickey waffles. Favorite breakfast places: O'Hana and Chef Mickey's.
6. In general, anything that makes my kids happy makes him happy. If they love it, that is all he needs. He gets a kick out of DD loving the Haunted Mansion and DS singing Yo-Ho, Yo-Ho a pirates life for me.

He may also prefer an afternoon hanging out and relaxing by himself at the resort. Take a swim in the pool, read a book, take a nap, etc..
My dh would think that would be great for a few hours and really appreciates it.

My DH is not much of a Disney fan either. This past trip we were there at Christmas. DH and DD(16) went horseback riding. We had ADRs at the Hoop Dee Doo Revue that night so when they were done riding he rented a golf cart and we rode all over Fort Wilderness checking it out and looking at the decorations that the campers had up. It worked out well and he seemed to enjoy himself.

richard petty drive along experience,my dh loved it!
also we rent a car for him,as he needs to 'get away' from disney after a while, he likes some alone time too, and the kids and I head to parks or whatever while he drives around to weird places and has a good time.... the car rental is for him,but technically it's for me:lmao: plus we hit some non disney spots too, there is so much to do and see within a 2 hour drive,we love nature,etc....

My DH didn't want to go to Disney either and didn't love our first trip in May 09 nearly as much as the kids and I. We're going back in March because we have a timeshare week that we traded for there.

The only part he really enjoyed for himself was the waterpark. It was sooo hot when we were there so we spent a lot of time at Typhoon Lagoon. He loves to be in the sun so he loved that part of it.
