Making Good on a Very Merry Promise! COMPLETE!

Sounds like a great plan! :thumbsup2

Did you mean Sunday, Nov 25th 'cuz you say Sat on your post? I only ask because I think Sunday is one of the best days of the week to go to the MK, so hopefully you should be good crowd-wise! :woohoo:

And yes we will be one of the ones leaving on Sat the 24th :sad1: But I refuse to let the "door hit me, yada, yada, yada..."

My family will probably have to pry me away kicking and screaming from the park on Friday night or from Chef Mickeys on our departure morning! :rotfl2:

It might get ugly! :scared:

Great installment! Love it!

Sara

Thanks Sara! Nice Catch! I'll go fix that! Yes, Sunday is the day!
I don't want the door to hit YOU!!! I want you to stay!!! Everybody else can go home though!

Tom sure does think you've lost your mind a lot, doesn't he?

Don't forget to get the chocolate cake at Cosmic Ray's. YUMMY!!!

:woohoo: Happy Friday!!! :woohoo:

Don't you just love how "UNCLE JOHN SAYS"
is becoming a regular segment? :rotfl2: I DO! *Insert sappy-ness here* I miss my family... A LOT!... including Uncle John... and having him here is really nice for me... it's a connection to home and it makes me happy! :goodvibes *Sappy-ness over*

The umbrella!!! On that thread of secrets I was talking about... almost every other page there is someone saying the umbrella is there, next page it's gone, next page it's there but it doesn't work, next page it works! Too funny! We will look for it and let you know!

WOW! Kimmy is the first person I've come across that said the food is good at Sci-Fi! I am sure it all depends on who is working, cooking, etc. No matter, we looking forward to it... especially Owen who insists he sit in the driver's seat! ;)

I do like the "UNCLE JOHN SAYS" segments lol. They are silly. What a nice way to connect with your family this little Pre-TR is :thumbsup2

It IS there and it DOES work! I have the picture to prove. I'm sure you remember this from my TR
CIMG2496.jpg

not sure how well you can see the water but it's there. I promise!

I like the food at SiFi too. You'll see this in my next installment. We've never had bad service there either. Not sure why everyone hates it :confused3

Location of Ice Station Cool: if you are looking at an epcot map, it is located at one of the four innoventions. It is the innoventions across from the fountain on the right hand (west) side (going towards the countries). If you are looking at the map you can see a little white cave right above the restroom and just below a kodak picture spot. Beverly...ICK!!

When you’re in line for Indiana Jones you go past a well. If you pull on the rope you'll hear someone down in the well.

If you're by the Haunted Mansion at night, look up at the top story right above the front door. If you watch it for a while you'll notice a light pass by it and some shadows, it looks like 2 people are walking by with a lantern.

Devine at AK. You can find her most mornings on the walk between Asia and Africa, usually between Flights of Wonder and Africa.

The walkway that goes from Mickey's Toontown to Space Mountain. Follows the railroad track. One of the few quiet places in MK.

The maze near the stage in the UK. It's a low hedge maze, so you really have to look to see it.

Finding the paintbrushes on Tom Sawyer Island.

Talking water fountains in EPCOT.
1. On the left side of the big fountain in FW as you are walking toward WS - right near Mousegear.
2. By the restrooms on the side of innoventions facing The Land. As you come through the center of the building walking towards The Land, make a quick left turn, they are right there.

The sidewalks that twinkle at night in Epcot. Take the right hand path after Spaceship Earth.

The shooting water fountains just before you enter the world showcase.

The some of the big points in Buzz are found leaving the first room. Turn around and shoot the back of the Orange robots arm or the back of the buzz saw. 100,000 points.

Look for the key under the doormat at Muppets 3D.

Haunted Mansion : there is a tombstone with eyes on it that open for just an instant.

"Singing in the Rain" umbrella that is attached to one of the streetlights near the old Hunchback theater. Grab the umbrella and step on the black square embedded in the cement underneath it for a nice surprise!

At the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids play area, climb the stairs between the garden hose and the slide coming out of a roll of film. There is a dog nose. Put your hand in the nostrils. The dog sniffs you!

Push the talking trash can in Tomorrowland. He comes out from Mickey's Star Traders every hour or so and roams for 20 minutes.

Eat lunch at The Pinocchio Village Haus and look out of the window that overlooks the loading/unloading area inside of It's A Small World.

The rocks in the water on the way to safari ride in AK as you go over the bridge, look like animals.

On Main Street, check out the old style phone in the General Store (on the right side of the street as you're headed in) Pick up the reciever and listen in on a conversation.

Dinoland Boneyard -- the play area is specially made for them to blow off some steam. If they look off to the right, behind the jeep, they'll see a row of fossils set into the wall. Just hit one and find out what happens -- it's musical! If you can't find the so-called "xylobone," a Cast Member will point it out to you.

When you're in HM in the pre-board show (hall of portraits), look straight up when the lights go out and the lightning flashes. You see a "dead body" hanging from the ceiling!

Wes Palm- the talking roving palm tree that entertains the folks prior to the gates opening at AK.

Halfway down Main Street, next to uptown jewelers, is a little alley way off the main street. One of these windows is partially opened and says on it “Music Lessons”. Every few minutes you can hear sounds from the lessons coming from the window.

Take the back walkway from Toontown to Tomorrowland and avoid the Toontown crowds.

A great place to watch Wishes is from the WDW RR train station. As you get to the top of the steps, you can stand or sit with a view directly down Main Street. Plus, when the show is over, you can simply just walk down the stairs and exit the park and beat the crowds to the monorail or ferry!

Strawberry Swirls at the Enchanted Grove (next to Cosmic Rays).

Next to Ice Station Cool, the Fountain View restaurant has great frozen juice drinks.

If you are the 1st person to get to Tinkerbell’s Treasures in the morning and ask to wake up Tinkerbell, you get to wake her up out of her box that sits near the register in the back. She'll fly around the store and then land in the dresser. You'll also get a certificate for waking her.

Tinkerbell's Treasures (the shop that is near Cindy's Castle). There is a small chest that looks like a lady's vanity near the front entrance. Over it is mirror that sparkle's Pixie dust every once in a while. If you look in the first drawer's key hole you can see Tink. You have to look in the keyhole at the right time, when the pixie dust appears on the mirror, to see her lit up.

Talking Goofy on Main Street: right by the entrance there is a Goofy statue sitting on a bench. When you sit by him he talks or snores!

If Star Tours is not crowded and you don't want to ride due to motion sickness, they can put you in a simulator and do a "flight check." You'll get the whole show without the motion! One family got to ride with Darth Vader and storm troopers this way!

Sometimes there is a Beauty and the Beast character "show" between the fountain and the perfume shop.

If you are at MGM in the morning, when the park opens don't go to the Tower of Terror or the RNR, go on the Great Movie Ride first thing with no wait and then go to Star Tours. You can ride Star Tours for almost and hour with no wait because almost all of the guests are over at the two big rides.

The talking water fountains are a) next to the splash area for children just before you leave Future World to enter World Showcase and b) next to the restrooms across from the Land pavilion, sort of on the 'back side' of Innoventions West.

Pathway between Imagination! and ice station cool. The pathway plays musical notes when you step on it!!!!!!

The camel in front of Aladdin's Magic Carpet spits water into the crowd walking by.

If you sit on the stone ledge on the side of the castle, you will hear Stitch giggle and tell you to be quiet because he's hiding.

Look in front of the Chinese Theater at MGM, you can see signatures and handprints of a lot of celebrities that visited MGM. There are even signatures of some of the characters too!

If you are visiting the WS during the Christmas season, check out the different Santas in the different countries.

The Radio Disney station in Orlando is AM 990.

When doing the World Showcase masks, ask them to attach a map
of their country with the charm. Most countries have maps with
a wishing legend on the back.

The outdoor model train display in Germany - it's a whole village
with a train running through, except in miniature!

In Japan you can buy an oyster in the water display,
then they open it, and give you the pearl!

There's a very nice playground in Norway, too.
It has a Viking boat theme.

At Pizza Planet – take note of the delivery vehicle in front.
Buzz is buckled in up front and Woody is the back where
He got tossed around with the tool box in the movie!

WS – Stop in any gift shop and pick up Epcot passports for the kids. As we visit each country and attendant stamps the kids’ passports and writes their names in that nation’s language.

WS – Kidcot stops at each “country” have a craft that you add onto as you go through them.

 LOVE all the secrets! A lot I didn't know. Thanks girl !! :cool1:

Yep, I'm up for now. I have my moments and then I have to go lay down again. But I slept for like 50 hours in the last 3 days, that was when I wasn't on the bathroom floor.:lmao: But I have compazine pills now, so hopefully that will help a lil bit. You're so sweet for being worried about me. I got a text message from Carla that said she and you were worried and how was I. I thought that was so sweet. You guys rock! Love ya!

awww, you rock too :) You know we care about ya girlie  :grouphug:

We were really worried! We were pm'ing about you! I'm glad she was able to text you and make sure you were okay because we all know... I couldn't text to save my life!

ALSO... I know some of you know this already but some of you may not so I'm going to tell you about a wee little medical problem I've been having. I know, I know :charac2: and you may say :offtopic: But it kinda isn't because it may affect our trip in a big way and I may need to mention it later. I will try to make it as brief as I can.

For the last 15 months I have been dealing with chronic tendonitis in my ankle. My reg. doc. took x-rays and they showed nothing... not even arthritis even though I majorly sprained this ankle about 8 years ago. So she said rest, ice and Aleve. Didn't work. She sent me to an orthopedic surgeon. They said "chronic tendonitis" and sent me to physical therapy. Ouch, that made it worse. They then sent me for an MRI. That showed nothing wrong either. That ortho doc sent me to another one who specializes in the ankle. She said, yep tendonitis. She prescribed custom orthotics and also lovely 3/4 inch lifts installed on my favorite running shoes. The lifts made it way worse and the orthotics didn't seem to be helping much either. So I went back to see her in August and said, "I am going to Disney the week after Thanksgiving... please fix me!" And she said the next thing we could try was a shot of cortisone and to put it in a cast for 6 weeks. So we did. A cast... on my right foot... for 6 weeks. That meant no driving. It was TORTURE! So, 3 weeks ago I got the cast off. :woohoo: She said to take it easy and just try not to irritate the ankle. Well that has been easier said than done. I'm still in quite a bit of pain. I went back to see her yesterday and she isn't happy with the lack of improvement. She prescribed 2 meds. One is prescription strength naproxen (Aleve). The other is called Lyrica which is a medication for nerves. Not anxiety kind of nerves but actual nerves. She thinks that the swollen tendon is pressing on a nerve and that is where the pain comes from. Here's the thing. She said it could make me sleepy and some folks feel like it makes them dumb. Great! Like I need help in that dept! I took the first one a couple hours ago and I think I'm good so far. But it is making me sleepy. So that is the end of my off-topic whine session. But now you will know what the scoop is if I seem really stupid or if I come back from Disney and post pics of me in a wheelchair!

I, Nicole, promise to post our plans for MK tomorrow!!!

:rotfl: txting isn't that hard but I'm glad I could help you get in touch with Tat and that I could give ya'll the update :thumbsup2

I remember you mentioning that you had a cast on a while back. So sorry to hear it didn't work. I hope those pills work!!:goodvibes

Okay, so I know I said I promise but there is no way I am going to write an update today. These pills ARE freaking me out!!! It is really weird and I can't concentrate enough to finish even one sentence let alone think about a whole day of activities!

So ya'll continue with the Great Movie Ride debate of 2007 and I'll be back tomorrow. See ya then!

wow that totally stinks that those pills are freaking you out. Ugh!

As far as the GMR for me...I've been riding that ride ever since I was a kid and I have had both the ganster and cowboy. I've only had the cowboy maybe once or twice out of the 70 something times I've been on that ride but I know he exists and they do the ride that way very infrequently.

there's my two cents about that :wizard:

Great update ! I see you included Tom Sawyer Island. So many people don't like it, but my kids LOVE it. Gives them the chance to run amok and go exploring.

Yes, I am anxious to talk to the doctor to see if it was normal. She said if I didn't like the side effects I could take it just at night and that way I'd sleep through them. :confused3 I don't know... I'm going to wait and see what she says tomorrow. Friday she did tell me there is a surgery she can do but she is very reluctant to do it because it has a very long recovery period... like up to a year. Super... but we aren't even going to go there yet. Just gotta get me through my trip!!! AND YES!!! I have soooo much to do!!!

:scared1: my mom almost had to have that surgery too but she opted out of that since the recovery time is sooooo long. I don't blame you for putting that off. Disney is more important :thumbsup2

UPDATE HERE!

Sun., Nov. 25 ~ MAGIC KINGDOM!!!! :cool1:

I love, love, love  the Magic Kingdom! The first time I laid eyes on the castle we were driving toward the Contemporary to check in after a long day of stressful air travel, luggage and rental car shenanigans. :scared: When I saw it I cried. :sad1: Tom thought I had finally lost my mind! But it was a very emotional experience for me. We didn’t get trips to Disney World as kids. Tom and I had gone to Disneyland in college but this was on a whole different level! And we were sharing it with our children. To me, going to Disney World is the quintessential American childhood experience and to provide our kids with that… well, it just chokes me up. And we get to do it AGAIN!!! :yay: :woohoo: :yay: :woohoo:

Now for the plans! We will chow some breakfast at the condo and get our tails over to the MK as early as we can!!! We expect it to be busy. We’re hoping not TOO busy though! :sad2: I imagine a lot of folks who were there for Thanksgiving will be sadly packing up and leaving today. (Buh-bye! Don't let the door hit ya in the... :rolleyes1 ) But I also imagine there will still be a lot of folks that have late flights or drives that aren’t too long, to linger for one last visit to the MK. Also, I’ve heard they tape the Christmas parade this weekend. Maybe we will see some celebrities!!! :cool1: In my wildest daydream about that I imagine Abby getting to see Hannah Montana or the HSM kids. Wouldn’t that just be the most magical thing??? Or sorry… back to reality! Which isn’t all that bad either considering where we will be on this day!!! :yay:

The great thing about spending today in the MK is that we know we will be back there for MVMCP in a couple days and that if we miss some things we get a second shot at them… so no stressing out over all gone fast passes or missed rides! :sad2:

Things we MUST do in MK:

1. Tom Sawyer Island – I want to find paintbrushes!!!!
2. Pirates
3. Splash Mtn.
4. BTMR
5. Haunted Mansion
6. IASW
7. Tea Cups
8. Barnstormer
9. Indy Speedway
10. Buzz
11. And ride the train

Things we MAY do in MK:

1. Magic carpets
2. Jungle cruise
3. Swiss Family Treehouse
4. Dumbo
5. Ariel
6. TTA
7. Peter Pan
8. Snow White
9. Pooh
10. Monsters, Inc.

I’m sure there are many other things and this list could go on and on and on! But those are the biggies for us. I have asked the kids what they absolutely must do and the things I listed MUST are always mentioned and the things I listed MAY are sometimes mentioned… everything else will be icing on the cake! :cake:

I won’t list the items on my cards because I went and listed the whole darn thing a couple days ago!!! But a couple of things I’ve added since are:

1. Check the Times Guide for Woody’s Cowboy Camp!!!
2. There are special pins available for MVMCP.
3. Check the Times Guide for characters in the Judge’s Tent. (This is where we finally scored Cinderella last time! Whew!)
4. Fantasyland is less crowded before 11 am, after 7pm and during parades.

We do not have any ressies for TS in the Magic Kingdom for this trip at all. There is so much we love about this park that I don’t want to spend time sitting down for a big meal in here. Plus, there just isn’t one that offers enough for my picky sons for me to feel like it’s worth it. I considered CP… but my sons said Icks-nay on the Ooh-pay. pooh: :sad1:
So! Likely CS places for us are Cosmic Ray’s, Casey’s and Pinnochio’s. I also MUST have a chocolate chip cookie from the Main Street Bakery.

So that wraps up Day 3. Next up on this fun-filled, action-packed vacay… GRAMMA’S HERE!!!! And Animal Kingdom!!!!

love your magic kingdom plan. You better ride SM at some point. I didn't see it on your list. We did Tom Sawyer's Island for the first time this trip and it was great :thumbsup2 I loved the barrel bridge and the fort.

your kids wouldn't like Liberty Tree Tavern for a TS meal? It has pot roast and turkey. And dinner is a Character Dining meal. I'd die if my kids end up being that pickey when I have some. They will eat where I tell them :rotfl:

You're gonna be the mean mommy that says, "now you HAVE to eat this horrible turkey and icky pot roast and get your picture taken with these mean characters!":lmao: Seriously, what kid wouldn't like LTT, they have to have something the kids would like! I'm the same way, I wouldn't miss it either. Don't really care what the kids say.:rotfl:

:rotfl: darn straight I'm gonna be a mean mommy that forces her kids to do what she wants. Even my evil bidding! :rotfl:

I knew if anyone was gonna agree with me about this it would for sure be you :thumbsup2 you've always got my back

Yikes,...sounds like maybe they gave you too strong of a dose...

I hope you call your doctor or maybe you just need a couple of days for your body to get used to it...

I just thought of something funny! I'm numb and dumber!

No, it isn't a pain med. She did give me prescription Aleve, but I don't want to take it unless I really need to because that stuff can tear your stomach apart! The ankle seems unphased by the nerve meds so far... but I only took two. I think it's supposed to take awhile!

I'm a pretty darn good list maker myself! It's checking stuff off the list where I run into trouble!

Hey! Anyone know where I can pick up some cheap ponchos? (That's on my list! )

Dollar store or Target:thumbsup2

You're gonna be the mean mommy that says, "now you HAVE to eat this horrible turkey and icky pot roast and get your picture taken with these mean characters!":lmao: Seriously, what kid wouldn't like LTT, they have to have something the kids would like! I'm the same way, I wouldn't miss it either. Don't really care what the kids say.:rotfl:

Well, we took ds to LTT and it was the only meal that he interacted with the characters at:confused3

The mac n cheese was a little gross, so he didn't eat it. I asked the servee if the cook could possibly make him a grilled cheese, thinking for sure they say no...But, they did and he wolfed it all down..:thumbsup2

Nicole....Great update!!

Love the don';t let the door hit you in the......:rotfl2:

I would recommend moving Monsters, Inc into your must list. That was hilarious and I think your boys would love it.

Have those jokes ready and learn to text by then....:rotfl2:

Oh my, aren't you two just the chatty cathys! I plucked out a few things to respond to! :thumbsup2

Tom sure does think you've lost your mind a lot, doesn't he?

Don't forget to get the chocolate cake at Cosmic Ray's. YUMMY!!!

Yes, Tom thinks I've lost my mind on a regular basis! :rotfl2:

I  chocolate cake! I'll have to get me some of that!

I do like the "UNCLE JOHN SAYS" segments lol. They are silly.

I like them too! Uncle John is soooooo silly! Tom thinks he's lost his mind too! :rotfl2:

I like the food at SiFi too. You'll see this in my next installment. We've never had bad service there either. Not sure why everyone hates it :confused3

Good to know! I'll be standing by waiting for your culinary review! :thumbsup2

 LOVE all the secrets! A lot I didn't know. Thanks girl !! :cool1:

Your welcome! :goodvibes

wow that totally stinks that those pills are freaking you out. Ugh!

Talked to the doctor. She said take them only at night and that way I can sleep it off! They aren't life-threatening side-effects. Good to know.

Alas, Carla puts an end to the Great Movie Ride Debate of 2007! Maybe Uncle John is smarter than he looks! (Oh, he's gonna kill me for that one! )
:lmao:

Great update ! I see you included Tom Sawyer Island. So many people don't like it, but my kids LOVE it. Gives them the chance to run amok and go exploring.

And that, my friend, is the master plan! :thumbsup2

awww yes!! Soon would be very nice! Lord knows we're trying! :headache: Chris will be going to the doc very very very soon (finally) hooray!! :woohoo:

I'm not sure Chris would want to know that you put that headache smilie after the "we're trying" part! :rotfl: Mum's the word! Also, I'm glad he's going to go to the doc... I know that can't be an easy step for dudes to make.

Yikes,...sounds like maybe they gave you too strong of a dose...

I hope you call your doctor or maybe you just need a couple of days for your body to get used to it...

Sharky, you so smart! That's what she said... that my body would get used to it after a bit. You should've been a doctor! Dr. Sharky, paging Dr. Sharky!

SCORE! I just wanted to tell you that I have been looking for ringer t-shirts for our MVMCP shirts. You know, with the color around the neck and sleeves. Well, I couldn't find any in the right colors darnit! So, I went into a little local sports store today. The guy in there is ordering them for me for about 5 bucks a shirt! :thumbsup2 AND! He said if I printed the design out and brought the transfers in he would use his machine to stick them on ~ FOR FREE!!! :woohoo:

You are right on with Magic Kingdom!!! It chokes me up too, there I said it. I never got to go as a child either....I could sit at the end of Main Street for hours and watch people.....
OK enough mush....

A Couple changes must be made to your itin.
Monsters Inc. was hilarious, your sister and I stumbled on to it when we let the boys go on their own on our late night at MK. (resort guests could stay until 1:00am). We wished the boys would have been with us.....I thought it was great, dont know or care what the reviews on here say....JUST GO!!!

And excuse me, where is the Hall of Presidents??? Are you not a freakin American or what......I dont care if the kids dont want to go.....at least let Tom go......Go look at tombstones at the HM. I know I'm mean, oh well..

I think the boys would love the treehouse.....its a quick walk through, 10 min. tops......Let Tom take the boys, you and Abb look at the shops across from it.......:cheer2:

Jungle cruise is my kind of comedy..

Where are the Tiki Birds on your list??? Its a must for your sister......

Tom Sawyer Island is a must.....good break from traffic.....Is Aunt Polly's still there on the island for cold chicken and PBJ's??? AVOID IT!!

Cosmic Rays is good, we always have lunch there.....Sit in the glassed in room with the band........no one ever comments on them, they jam!!!

Hint: around the tomorrow land speedway you usually find the robot trash cans........look for the tourist with his/her hands in a duffle bag and their hands up to their mouth. They have the remote control and microphone to operate it.......they have them in AK too, have never seen them in the other parks.

Ride the TTA, on the escalator up to the ride have the kids act like they are surfing and take a picture. We get one of the kids doing that every time we go!!

We watch fireworks from the Tomorrowland Terrace Noodle station. It is never open when we are there....get there about 20 min. before the show, tables and chairs are already close to the railing....Tinkerbell flies right to that area.

How about hair cuts for the boys???? Right on Main St. USA.....Mickey confetti and purple hair spray!!!Yeee Haaa :rotfl:

ENJOY!!! I love that dancing banana!!

PS. Best bathrooms are by Crystal Palace and Casey's Corner....never ever anyone in them in my experience......usually ducks to feed close by.

AND TO THINK WE HAVENT EVEN DISCUSSED HIDDEN MICKEYS:thumbsup2

LEGER13:
Thanks for the backup on GMR:banana: .....I know I saw a cowboy ride with us........
I was starting to question everything Disney, maybe I had never been there...it was all a dream!!!!LOL......wait thats right I have bills to prove I was there!!!

We have a picture with the singin in the rain umbrella......its def. not the same umbrella you have in your photo.......maybe they swap it out from time to time....our photo is about 6 years old. We couldnt find it on our last trip.....we were all over streets of America....makes no sense to me.....

Maybe I shouldnt eat 4 turkey legs while at MGM!!!! Tryptophan plays tricks on me.....just kidding......

Anyway, Thanks

UNCLE JOHN
