Our family is planning on going to WDW in just over a month (third week of May). We haven't booked our trip as of yet and dining reservations. We are planning on getting the disney dining plan (basic).

Are most of the fine dining restaurants going to be booked up already? or am I just worried about nothing?

If by "fine dining" you mean the ones that are 2 credits on the dining plan, you may be able to get spots at some of those - being 2 credits, some of them just aren't as popular.

You're likely not going to get 'Ohana, Le Cellier, or Chef Mickey's for anything but a late reservation, or California Grill for anytime around the MK fireworks, although you can try. And you should probably start trying. Can't tell if you intend to get reservations or if you just want to try walking up to restaurants (which really isn't recommended with the dining plan unless you want to take the chance that you would have to roam around until you find a place that you can spend your credits)

I've been trying for the same time frame for the past couple weeks. It just depends on what you want. I got everything I wanted but CRT. I would start trying for reservations ASAP. Make sure you check back in as well. Tusker House wasn't available 2 days ago, but I got my reservation today. Good luck!

we are going the same time frame and I have been trying for WEEKS to get some of my restaurant choices with no luck. I try at least 3-4 times a day for a Chef Mickey ADR and haven't been able to get one yet.

Will you be able to get some, yes, but if you have parks planned out getting the time/day you want for many table service meals is going to be tough.

I am kicking myself for not doing this back in January/February (which was still less than 180 days but it was when we decided on the dates we were going)!!!

Good luck, and check the cancelled ADR thread for May - you might get lucky!!!

I'm sorry you haven't been able to get your reservations. Maybe I'm having a much easier time just because there are only 2 of us. Perhaps I should have mentioned that.

Definitely check the ADR cancellation thread! I missed a CRT ressie because I wasn't checking it enough. So sad...

If you know your dates, you can go ahead and start booking online now, even if you haven't booked your trip. I did a search for one day during that trip, and there were lots of good restaurants available. They may not be the same restaurants you would choose if you were planning 6 months out, but they are good restaurants available none the less. You might even discover some hidden gems that you hadn't thought of - we stumbled upon The Wave in the Contemporary during our last trip when we booked it the same day.
