Making ADRs

Hi all,

I'm new to all this "ADR" stuff, and was wondering should I make ressies to Sci-Fi restaurant and to the 50's Prime Time restaurant now? We will be at WDW from Dec. 12 - 20. I've heard from friends who've gone around the same time and said they got in to both without reservations.

Could I make reservations for those places once we get down there? I did make ressies for the candlight procession at Epcot - that's already been taken care of. And we are going to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. So far those are the only two things we've "planned".

We've got 49 days (and counting) and I want dh & I to have the best time while we are down there but I don't want to be a "trip nazi" or anything like that. :rotfl2: This trip is for us to relax and enjoy (since we won't have my dad to care for) so I don't want to have every hour planned for the entire trip. Know what I mean?

Any thoughts/ideas would be great! Thanks in advance!!

For those two locations, and it sounds like it is just the two of you - you should be okay. Maybe you could make ADRs for a time/day that you think you would like to go, and then see how it works into your day once you get here. You can always cancel if you don't need it and try another time. With a party of two (that is what DD and I are) and the ability to be flexible I find that I can almost always get in (except for the highly popular locations at the most desirable times!)

Have a great relaxing, stress free trip!

My BF and I want the same sort pf trip that you are describing: relaxed and not too regimented. Even so, I still made one ADR for us each day, around the time that I thought we would be feeling hungry anyway. It only takes a few minutes too make them, and I figured we could also give them up if we wanted, but they would be there if we needed them. We will bw a party of two as well, going in early December. Whatever you decide, have a great trip!

We do not do commando trips, like to relax and take it as it comes so we only do a few ADR's that we know might be crowded. We'll reserve the HDDR, Primetime 50's and maybe one breakfast character meal, the rest we take it as it comes. We like a very flexible schedule to pick as we see and not be nailed down to an area or time. We've cancelled some advanced reservations but we try to stick to the ones we got to have and must do that tend to fill up. Nothing worse then coming home with some places you wanted to dine in because you couldn't get in, making an ADR is easy and fool proof.

Thanks everyone! I'm going to make a few ADRs "just in case". It will only be the two of us and I figure we have to eat so might as well have the ressies.

Thanks again for all the advice!! :thumbsup2
