Making ADR Thread - hold times, IT vents, and general whine!

it is frustrating to call on the 90 day mark and feel like you have to fight for every reservation on your 10 day vacation.

my big gripes:

Sci Fi
Fantasmic Dinner Packages
Chefs France

didn't matter which day...all booked for 4 people...right!

I totally agree! To call at 7:00 and be one of the first people on your first day and not get anything is very frustrating. I rather do 180 days out when only the fanatics like us are making ADR's! :)

I also had trouble with 1900 Park Fare had to go to our last day to get it at a decent time.

ARG...I was also on at 7am sharp, and like the previous poster, had to give all this information/details etc before we could start checking for adrs! :headache: I kept cutting her off asking if we could just skip this part and check le cell. right away :rotfl: but she kept insisting that she collect all my info first BOOO. By the time she checked, there were NO more dinners left!! Did this happen with everyone? Is this the new proceedure? The next couple of times I called today, they didn't ask me as many questions as they did at 7am :confused3
Did anyone get a dinner at le cellier who called today at 7am?

We are going during free dining - if there is one - Sept. My TA said that she would make dining reservations for me. Do they get a special number to call or just call in like the rest of us? I wonder if I should make them myself. I really want to do CRT for lunch.

We just added a second week to our trip and as part of the process, we downgraded from the deluxe plan to the regular plan so we had to change and cancel adr's from our first week and shift to the second week. It took almost an hour but we got it done and are quite pleased. Here is what we have:

Breakfasts
Chef Mickey's
Kona (oop)
Ohana (oop)
Hollywood and Vine

Lunch
Sci-Fi
Le Cellier

Dinners
Teppan Edo
1900 Park Faire
Coral Reef
Tony's Town Square
Crystal Palace
Kona
Ohana
Turf Club
Whispering Canyon
Tutto Italia

WE did throw back a few good reservations. Was hard to throw back an 8pm California Grill Ressie but couldn't justify a signature restaurant on the new plan.:scared:

Oh wow. This definitely makes me nervous.

You know, there is just no hope for those of us not staying on site and not getting the +10 with our 90 days. We'll be 10 days behind before we even start! (And, on top of that, we have to call every single day for 1 or 2 ressies each day. THAT is going to be annoying. :rotfl2: )

DH started dialing at 6.59am...he got a live person within 3 minutes. She asked us what dates we were booking for...he told her June...she said with the new system she needed to transfer him to a different group?:confused3 so we are sitting here waiting...listening to 'zip-a-dee-do-dah...":headache:

.

I hit the prompt number for reservations in June and have been waiting since 7:01 am (on my computer clock).:rolleyes1

I totally agree!! This is exactly how I felt yesterday. I keep thinking about people who call at 60 or 30 days out. I don't think there will be anything. I don't know what is going on with reservations but the availabilty was limited. I was sweatin bullets the whole time.

You all are really making me SOOO nervous. I have to call on Sunday and we are on the Deluxe Dining Plan. If we can't most of what we want when we want them then I'm going to be forced to cancel or down grade the dining plan.

I didn't have any trouble with any ADR other than Sci Fi. I got Le Cellier, Les Chefs, Tutto Italia, Narcoossee's, Crystal Palace, Primetime and Chef Mickey's. I think it'll be fine but don't be too rigid with your days. If you're willing to have alternate dates for a few select meals, you should be fine. If you think you have a few really tough ones to get, try moving them closer to the end of your vacation so there is less time that others might have gotten them ahead of you.

:cheer2:

:cool1: I had kept calling until I got the magical music and after going through all the prompts quickly (without listening to them all) I was on hold starting at 7:01 am. At 7:24 am, I got a very nice CM. For all of my reservations, I was looking for dinner between 5 and 6 pm (for our sanity with the kids) and breakfast as close to 8:00 am as possible. After giving my reservation number and ages of children, etc., I started with my first ADR for LeCellier. I got dinner at 4:55 pm. The only change I had to make while on the phone was switching my AK and HS days so that I could get the Tusker House breakfast. It wouldn't bring up anything for 6/18. At 7:37 am, the CM confirmed my first 6 ADR's. She said that she put in 9 for someone yesterday and the computer had a glitch and she lost them all. She didn't want that to happen to me. After getting the confirmation numbers, I gave her my final 3 ADR's and got confirmed. The ADR's and times are as follows:

6/18 - Hollywood & Vine character breakfast - 8:15 am
6/18 - Nine Dragons - 5:00 pm
6/19 - Raglan Road - 5:00 pm
6/20 - Tutto Italia - 5:00 pm
6/21 - Tusker House Safari Breakfast - 8:15 am
6/21 - Biergarten - 5:30 pm (just before the 5:55 show!)
6/22 - Kona - 8:00 am
6/22 - Crystal Palace - 4:55 pm
6/23 - Le Cellier - 4:55 pm

I think for those able to do the 90 + 10, trying for Le Cellier later in your trip is very beneficial. As you can see, our family enjoys Epcot and we do spend a lot of evenings there. However, we can always eat and head to the MK. I was off the phone at 7:45 am.

Good luck to everyone else.

Sorry if I made you nervous.:flower3:

Disney4us2002 said it better than I did. I was trying to say that I called at the 90+10 mark. I had to switch some days around. I was very surprised about that. I did get the places I wanted except Sci Fi. I was frustrated that I had to switch days around to get in some places. It's 90 days out!

After about 25 minutes on hold we got a very nice CM. Everything seemed to go very smoothly until she read back all our confimation numbers at the end of the call. One one of our ADR's was supposed to be an 8:05 am for Tusker House breakfast. BUT when she read the confirmations back it came up as an 8:05 am for Spoodles breakfast. :headache:
Apparently when a CM checks for availability, and there isn't any, it comes up with an 'alternative'. Our cm 'thought' the 8:05 she was booking was for Tusker House, but it was really for the alternative. The only thing that was available for Tusker House at that point was for 10:45am, which we took.
So be VERY careful when you are making those ADR's! :scared:
Other than that we got everthing else that we wanted.

Plaza - 5:10pm
Tusker House breakfast - 10:45am
Coral Reef - 11:30am
Tony's Town Square - 6:25pm
50's Prime Time - 5:45pm
Teppan Edo - 6:30pm
Chef Mickeys - 9:30am

I also called yesterday and made reservations for lunch at T-Rex for our DTD day.
Good luck to everyone else! :flower3:

The last two times I have tried to call, I've been on hold more than 15 minutes and gave up.

Yesterday I had someone pick up real quick and was super friendly. I only wish I had my ducks in a row then! :confused3

I am in the same boat! We call Sunday too! I am not paying for Deluxe Dinign if I do not get most of what I want!:scared1:

I saw an explanation on here somewhere in the last two weeks that said when you give a time frame on the new system, it gives the CM that time & anything in the 30 minutes before that time. It does not show all available times at that restaurant that night. So if you say 7:00 P.M., it will show anything available between 6:30 & 7:00 P.M.

The other thing the system does is "remembers" details about other reservations and makes "suggestions" based on those preference. When I called back to change a Friday reservation for late May, I told the CM we had a ressie at The Wave, but wanted to try for the new AKL place that opens in May. She says "o.k., you're wanting a reservation around 5 or 5:30, right? Which is when the majority of our ADRs are booked for--she said the system keeps track of people's preferences.

It is frustrating to not get your choices, though. LeCellier is extra difficult because of it's popularity and how small it is...it fills fast.

What if I say CP, breakfast, first available, will this rush the process or are you saying she will have to put in 7:00-7:30, then 7:30-8:00, etc. cause that would take forever which may be why everyone is taking so long.

That's how my CM did it. I don't think it added as much time as listening to the "no smoking, be there...blah, blah, blah" spiel for every single reservation. She was very sweet, though, and read as fast as she could. :goodvibes

When I called, I said, LeCellier on date for dinner. Nothing. Then I said, okay let's try the next day - same thing. I got a 6:50.

For CP (which was my next ressie) I gave the date and said "as early as possible" Bingo. 9:20, which I later changed. I never once gave an actual time, just a meal (B, L, D)

Also my CM did not go through the non-smoking, yadda, yadda spiel for any ressie past my first one (LeCellier). That was kind of nice.

THIS scares me. I submitted all of my requests to IPO already, but we won't know anything for 45 more days. :headache:
The girl I spoke to at IPO said the new system "learns" your preferences and will make alternate suggestions if your first choice is full.
The example above tells me that instead of suggesting an alternate TIME at your preferred location, it will move you off to the other side of the property to accommodate your time preference! :headache: It doesn't even attempt to keep you in the same area. Tusker House and Spoodles are in NO WAY interchangeable! :sad2: I would much rather have an ADR 20 minutes later at the restaurant I asked for than end up WAAAAYYY over in some other park just to get the time I asked for. Insane.
