Making ADR for 1

I have read several places to try to make reservations for 1 person if you can't get it for 2 and then make a separate account for the 2nd person. I was about to do this so I could change our BOG to lunch and have dinner at California Grill. However, how will this work with Dining Plan? How to I link the new account and reservation to the dining plan on another account and magic band? Can this even be done? It sounded like a good idea but I want to make sure it works before I do it.

You don’t have to make a fake account. Just leave it blank. Some places you can modify, others (*cough*’Ohana*cough*) you can’t. Unless it’s a pay-up-front place like CRT you lay when you are there, so zero issues with dining plan. You simply either tell them it’s just going to be you or you tell them their system would not allow you to book for 1. You’ll be at the same table you would be at with 1 or 2 (possible exception is B&C where they might put solo you at the counter - or maybe Biergarten with a party of 7)

Just make it for 2 and leave it at that as Dug720 said. ADRs really have nothing to do with the dining plan as far as I can tell.

If I'm understanding correctly you are trying to get reservations for 2 people at BOG lunch? If that's the case, yes, you can try for 2 separate reservations for 1 each. And yes, you would need a separate account to do so because you can't hold overlapping ADRs under the same account. It has nothing to do with dining plan though. Once you arrive you can pay however you want.

Yes! This was exactly what I was asking. I ended up making mine for 1:00 and from a different account making Mom's for 1:05. I was just concerned about it not being linked to her magic band. So do we just give them her name or confirmation number when we check in?

Yep! Doesn't matter at all that it's not linked to her magic band.
