If I'm going to DW during a down time, say September maybe, how far in advance will I need to make my reservations??

We've gone in September the last 2 years and I still made my ressies 180 days out. So, if there are particular restaurants (especially hard to get ones like Le Cellier) that you want, I recommend calling at the 90 day mark. In the past, September has been free dining time and ressies fill up quick.

If you really want a particular restaurant for a particular meal, call at your 90 day mark no matter what time of the year. If you really don't care where or when you eat, then you don't have to call that early.

September has been free dining and the end of September is the beginning of the Food and Wine Festival. I wouldn't leave my "must eats" to chance. I'd call as soon as I could.

The thing is - if you really, really want a certain meal and you can't get it, the chances of you being able to call back and find a cancellation are purely left up to luck. There are no waiting lists for dining reservations.

I agree with the PP. Call at 90 days out when your window opens up. Sept is Free Dining promtion time and restaurants get booked very quickly and usually do not accept walk ups very easily .
