Making a reservation for two rooms?

Please help! I apologize ahead of time if this is a stupid question, this is my first post and I am new to the board.

My DH made reservations today using our AAA discount at POR. We have four adults and one infant in our room and 2 adults and 2 children in the other room. The rate per night they quoted for each room was the same in the breakdown. My problem is I don't want our family in the other room paying towards the other two adults in our room but if they didn't charge us for the two extra adults per day, I don't want to let them know either.

Hi & Welcome!

A quick question - is your reservation for the rooms only or is it for the rooms & park admissions? That will make a difference in the way you are charged.

Whenever I make ressies, they ask for the names of the people in the room..so they should know you'll have 4 adults in your room, and it shouldn't affect the price of the other room. If the price is the same for each room, then he must not have given them all the info. The problem with not claiming all the adults, is two of them won't have keys (or charging privies..but the keys would be more important). You also will have to keep calling for extra towels, since they will stock your room for the two they think are there. Plus, if the other adults want anything from the desk, they will have to give their names as of people who are registered to those rooms.

Also, although I find this hard to believe...I read once, if you are "hiding" extra people in your room, the maids report extra toothbrushes. I personally think they have enough to do, but I read that on this board once. So you have to decide if it's worth it.

My husband called back to request a certain building we had stayed in before and they even asked for our room number so they could put that on the reservaion. He asked to confirm the all the infomration and prices and it had not changed. This is a room reservation only.

Both rooms are in my name since my brother-in-law does not have AAA. I don't know if that makes a difference.

Do prices really go up just with more adults in the room? I don't think so. If it "fits" 4 adults- usually the price is for double occupancy and if you have up to that 4 adults- the price doesn't usually go up with each adult... well... SOME hotels charge an extra fee per person- is that what you mean? That you think they should have charged more for the room with 4 adults? Perhaps so.. but I honestly think that's silly. I wouldn't say to "hide" anyone and it doesn't seem that you have since you said your DH double checked the information as accurate- I'm just saying if 2 people are staying there or 4 people are staying there- why do hotels charge more? It doesn't make sense to me. If it fits 4- it fits 4. I never understand the extra charge depending on who's in there.

For example- your room with 4 adults and one child vs a room with 2 adults and 2 children- what's the difference to the HOTEL? Nothing. The same room is being used- what does it matter how may adults vs children are using the room? They should know- never hide people in rooms ofcourse- I'm just saying I don't get the rate changes.

Ps. atleast at ASMu the price seems to be the same. I asked if the price would be different if I ended up bringing a friend of mine (adult) and PERHAPS her oldest child also... he said the rate would be the same. Ofcourse I'm going alone so I didn't have to call back and let them know anyone else would be there- but he said the price would be the same. And I think it should be the same... what difference is it if I sleep there alone or if another adult shares the room? Doesn't make sense to me...

When we looked into room only prices for our trip last June (at the Polynesian & POR) the price was the same for up to 4 people whether child or adult. We had 5 so there was an additional charge (around $25 per day) for the 5th person.

Last I heard, Disney charges extra for more than 2 adults (over 18) in a room. $25 at Deluxes, $15 moderates, maybe $10 all stars? This is for room only reservations. Packages are adjusted for age already.

I've also heard that it isn't always added to the bill :)
