Make up tips for the ladies

I'm going in 1 week, . . . . andddd just going to post a very simple make up tip for them girls who can't live without some sort of magic worked into their face = )

I posted this in another thread but that wasn't tip related so i'm goign to post it here

Basically, . . i can't live without eyeliner, . and since a lot of eyeliners out there smudgeee i just wanted to suggest my eyeliner: Mac's Liquidlast Liner

PROS:
-They sell in MANY different colors
- ABSOLUTELY WATER PROOF - i can shower and swim in it and it remains exactly the way i put it on
- bold
- brush tip applicator which doesn't scratch like most eyeliner pencils do

Cons:
- TOOOO waterproof if that's possible~ B/c it is waterproof, only oil based make up removers will remove it!! If not, . . you can use a wipe and your eyeliner will still wave hi to you in the mirror So remember to bring an oil based remover to get rid of it!!
- oil based removers are greasier for your face after, . . and use q tips so you don't get any into your eyeballs!
- IT TAKES PRACTICE!!! - b/c the applicator is a soft brush, it does tend to move around. You need to have a really practiced hand to get it done. Unlike other eyeliner, if you go out of line REMOVE IMMEDIATELY WITH A QTIP (unless if you have oil remover) b/c u will not be able to remove it!!!! no jokes
- hard to get rid of mistakes
- harder to put on the lower waterline but it does stay on. I've put them on and i'm a reckless maker upper so sometimes i get a bit on my eyeballs. No worries, for some reason, they don't stick to the watery surface and if wear contact lenses, then u can already touch your eyeballs to get it out!!

oh tip: wear the eyeliner before contacts - incase you get it on the contact, i dunno wat'll happen
If you are like me, and u dont REALLY care, . . . u can put on the eyeliner and not wash it off and sleep wtih it. Overnight, if you're a wild sleeper, they tend to rub off, . . with traces left but they're easier to remove.

Other tips:

Bring extra bobby pins and hairties, . . u never know, . . . bangs or stray strands that poke your eyes can anger you on a regular day - the annoyance will probably amplify in the heat

SPF SPF SPF - there are a lot of make up out there that provide SPF

Lip balm - read this somewhere on the site and i DID NOT know that u can get sunburn on your lips. Wouldn't want to try that

i also read somewhere on the forums that TUBE mascaras don't smudge and are really easy to remove
i might try that but i'm not a mascara girl

forgot to say, after putting it on, dont' open your eyes fully or else you'll get them all over your lids. GIve them time to dry!

I have read so much about MAC eyeliner it just scares me!

The other reason I don't try it is because I don't like waterproof....oil based cleansers are to heavy for me & irritate my eyes

Ok.. I have to wear some eye liner and lip gloss.. but i have been using the one with some sun block.. But really.. I don't know why I need the eye liner.. LOL.. Just like it.

Thanks so much for this tip!! i always use a lil liquid eyeliner, but when i'm in the parks the last thing i want to worry about is if my eyeliner is melting off....and espcially at the water parks! this is going to be a fantastic tip for me. thanks so much

Just have to add that I'm so envious of ladies who don't have to apply a second face when they go to Disney. But, I would never let a picture of me be taken if I didn't go through my complete makeup routine. In fact, I carry all my makeup on the plane just so I can reapply before ME delivers our luggage. Let me tell you what a nightmare the year was that TSA didn't allow ANY liquid carryons

One of the reasons I apply my BE is so I keep my peaches & cream skin.

Some days I just use the Bare Minerals and a sheer lipstick...I also do that at home alot in the summer

I wish I could use that stuff, tried it and the bismuth oxychloride in it makes me break out and itch. But I do have another mineral makeup that I use that doesn't have that stuff in it and its great.

Just a note that I just happened to read today...don't pay attention to the SPF ratings of your makeup! You basically don't apply makeup heavy enough to get the true rating. Instead, apply at least SPF 30 sunscreen, then let it dry for a few minutes and apply your normal foundation.

I wish I could use that stuff, tried it and the bismuth oxychloride in it makes me break out and itch. But I do have another mineral makeup that I use that doesn't have that stuff in it and its great.

I don't wear Bare Escentuals because of the bismuth and because I don't like the shine it gives my face. I agree however that there are lots of small mineral makeup companies out there that make fantastic products and don't use bismuth in their products. Many are also not using mica or kayolin clay in their products either. If your skin is oily, kayolin clay is great, but if your skin is dry, the products that use more silk are so much better for your skin. Now with all the small mineral makeup companies, people have a choice and some of these ladies create absolutely wonderful products. There is no reason for people to be using Bare Escentuals, if they don't want to. I was amazed at how much better my face looked when I switched from Bare Escentuals (not powdery and shiny).

Some of the best companies out there are: Dream World Minerals, Pure Luxe, Silk Naturals, Meow, Bare Faced Minerals, Aromaleigh, Lumiere, Everyday Minerals, Cory, J Lynne, Fyrinnae, Aubrey Nicole, Southern Magnolia, and Ocean Mist, just to name a few. Their prices are better and their products are better for your skin. Most have wonderful customer service and some will custom blend foundations for you, so you will have a custom match for your skin (i.e. I wear a blend of 80% Fawn Beige and 20% Buff in Pure Luxe and a mix of 75% Ala, 25% Pinga, and a touch of Ki in Dream World Minerals. Both ladies will custom blend my foundations). Shipping is usually fast also. Just read the ingredient lists and make sure your makeup is all minerals and not like alot of the new stuff in the dept stores that advertise they are minerals and really only contain 'some' minerals. Oh and make sure you have the correct brushes for applying mineral makeup. The correct brushes make all the difference in how your mineral makeup looks. You would need at least a big flat top and/or kabuki for foundation, a slanted tipped brush (preferably a fiberoptic) for blushes, at least three brushes for eyeshadows (an eye buki, a slanted tipped, and a precision brush), a tiny fine tipped brush for eyeliners, plus a soft skunk brush for applying finishing powders. OK, off my soapbox now !

oops! I forgot the intent of the original post. As far as WDW makeup: #1 be sure to wear plenty of strong sunscreen. Mineral makeup has sunscreen in it, but as a previous poster said, not enough. After letting both sunscreen and moisturizer soak in, apply a good makeup primer, then mineral makeup, being sure to use a primer before applying your eyeshadow to keep it from fading and/or creasing, then a good finishing powder, and your makeup should be set for the day. You may have to use blotting sheets for the sweat, but your makeup should stay on all day. Mineral make up is waterproof and sweatproof, as long as you just blot your face throughout the day. Also as another previous poster said, be sure to use a lip balm with sunscreen for your lips. The best mascaras I've found for the heat and humidity of Florida are either Blinc or Shisiedo Majolica Majorca Neo Lash Expander "My Lashes Extend Elegantly' with Shiseido 'Curl, Curl, Curl Toward the Sky' primer. I guarantee you your mascara won't run or smear, if you use the Shiseido products. The only problem is that it is impossible to get off with regular eye makeup remover. Kanebo cleansing oil removes it easily however. As far as eyeliner, I solved that problem years ago, by having my eyeliner tatooed on. With my contacts, my eyes water alot, so no way could I ever wear eyeliner. Now I don't have to worry about it.

The secret to keeping makeup, eyeshadow, and mascara on in Florida is to use good primers for each and to go as lightly as possible on the makeup, use mineral makeup, then blot the sweat from your face frequently (blot not rub).

I too use that tube mascara. I love it. I splash on lots of moistorizer with spf, a bit of liner, (often eye shadow with a a slant brush, a hat ,sunglasses and forget it for the day! The lsee in the hot sun the better. By the end of the day I have less and less on my face! I'm curious to those of you have tried mineral make up. I've tried a couple more inexpensive brands and it's not working for me. My skin in dry dry dry! I could use just vaseline in the morning , rub it in and put my regular make up on top. It really is that dry. I am finding that mineral makeup just looks bad and makes my skin even drier. Any brands made espressly for dry skin? I find that it's new enough that those selling it are giving the spiel that it works on all skin types.OP I'm so sorry for interjecting this into your thread. AGain, At WDW, the hat is key! (we don't go into hat head either!),chapstick with spf too. and Lysine since when in sun I tend to break out into fever blisters.Liz

Avoid brands that have a high percentage of kaolin clay. It's the clay that's drying your skin worse. Bismuth can make you itch, but kaolin clay while great for oily skin is murder on dry skin. If your skin likes silk, look for products with alot of silk or use a 100% silk primer, before you apply the foundation. Silk works for most skin types and helps holds moisture in. Also moisturize, moisturize, moisturize and let it soak in for about 30 minutes before applying your mineral makeup.

Oh, one more thing. Use a good rich night cream every night, apply a good moisture masque at least once or twice a week, and be sure to exfoliate twice a week to get rid of dry patches. Mineral makeup will make any dry patches on your skin show up worse.

WoW....I finally get to post on a thread where I ACTUALLY feel like I'm a bit of a expert at!! LOL... Not only am I obsessed with make-up and skin care...I am also a Licensed Esthetician.....SO I have USED IT ALL!!!
Not only on myself but other people...my clients!!!

I agree with a lot of you about mineral make-up..ie...Bare Escentuals. NOT for EVERYONE!! However, I do USE SOME of their line. I LOVE the Clear Radiance!! It gives me this healthy glow!! The blush is only so so for me....not enough color in my opinion. I like to have COLOR on my cheeks! The lipgloss is FABULOUS!! It is called BUXOM LIPS!!! But other than that I like to mix my brands up a little bit. If I find something that I like even though it's not an "expensive" brand, I stick with it!! For example....liquid eyeliner is a MUST for me...I've tried ALOT brands...although I need to venture over to MAC and try that one out.....BUT for now I am using ALMAY ....LOVE IT!!!!

Also....mascara is a BIG THING with me!!! I AM A mascara junky!! lol...

I sometimes use a combo ....one that has fullness and one that lengthens....I know...CRAZY!! Maybelinne full and soft BLACK......and LANCOME ...L'EXTREME....it's FABULOUS!!!

Another MUST HAVE......DIAMOND DUST by Bare Escentuals!! I LOVE it for my declotte(upper chest area) It's a bronzer!!

Also....I use waterproof mascara on my bottom lashes if I am going to be outside for a long period of time....like let's say in....DISNEY WORLD

AND another important factor to make-up and how it goes on your face depends A LOT on your facial products.....including CLEANSER, TONER AND MOISTURIZER!!! AND an EXFOLIANT once a week!!!!

Oh my goodness...I could go on for hours.....

I was just going to post about Buxom Lips!!!! I received it last week, Trixie & Lola and think it is the best gloss ever!!!! I have used it alone or over lipstick & it's great!
I'm going online tonight to buy another duo just not sure which one!

I also wear make-up everyday, but I just don't like dealing with it while in the parks. I stick to the basics: moisturizer, spf, lip balm. Clinique makes an spf called City Block which goes over your regular moisturizer and doesn't leave your skin nasty like regular sunblock. It comes in 15 or 40.

I have been wanting to use "mineral" make up for awhile. I am not sure even sure where to start. I am leary of ordering online because I am not sure what colors or what I need. Any help would be appreciated!!
