Last year we stayed at the Port Orleans Riverside. This resort is very nice. We checked in around noon and our room was not ready so my grandson and I visited the Food Court and their wonderful Fishing spot. My grandson did not know it at the time, but I had scheduled a Fishing Excursion for him later on in our trip. When later getting into our room, we decided it would be nice to have some extra pillows. The next day I left a note for housekeeping with the tip I usually leave. After visiting Epcot that day we arrived back at night - NO EXTRA PILLOWS. I did this for three days. Still no pillows! Well if I had read my Port Orleans newsletter, I would have realized that all I had to do was call the number for housekeeping on the phone and they would have sent extra pillows. NOT MY ONLY MISTAKE. We arrived at Disney world with an 11 year old boy in an arm cast. The day we were to go on the fishing excursion, it was pouring down rain. Fishing excursions are rain or shine. I walked down to the dock, in the pouring down rain to try and tell someone of my plight, I did not want to send my grandson out fishing with a cast on his arm. Well I arrived at the dock at 9a.m. for a 10a.m. cruise. No one was there. By the time I got back to the room, the fishing guide had called. He was on his way. We were in the room at 10a.m., it had stopped raining. We had a rental car so we drove to the front of the resort and I went to the dock, by this time it was after 10am probably about 10;20am... I explained my dilemna and I why I did not show up. They were very nice. I did not get charged. BUT AGAIN ALL OF THIS WAS MY FAULT AND NOT THERES. I should have read my resort handout and I would have known who to call. I woke up on a rainy day, with a kid in a cast and I panicked. I did all the wrong things.. Well my grandon was very understanding for an 11 year old. He caught lots of fish off the pier. He still wants to go on an excursion, and I am planning one for our return trip to Port Orleans Riverside in June '05' We will be staying at Port Orleans Riverside for 4 nights so he can fish and swim. Of cxourse NO CAST so now he can fish and swim for 4 days. We are the off to my dream of 3 nights at the Grand Floridian. Haven't told him about that. That is a surprise. He will have to get all of his fishing in the 4 days, but I am sure he will love the pool at the Grand Floridian, and we will be close to my favorite park the Magic Kingdom. MY POINT HERE IS READ YOU RESORT HANDOUT.!!!! If I had taken the time to read mine, I would have saved myself a lot of grief and we would have made that fishing trip, because oh yes, I forgot to tell you EXACTLY AT 10 A M THAT MORNING OF THE FISHING TRIP, THE SUN CAME OUT. WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN STANDING THERE AND WE WOULD HAVE GONE FISHING.

Yes, read everything! It will save you time, grief and in some cases money. I've learned my lesson too BabaraAnn. :) Great advice!

The resort handout was my favorite reading material as I drifted off to sleep last year. :cloud9:

I am always forgetting to read the material they give you at check in! I always read it when I get home and say oh wow I didn't know that. We got back from the Polynesian and I never knew about all the special things like hula lessons going on  Oh well, guess that means I'll have to stay there again :teeth:

THanks for your advice! I'm sure I'll be reading it several times - that is just how I am (I read cereal boxes for heaven's sake LOL) and all things Disney=so much more exciting than cereal boxes :)

:rotfl: So, I'm not the only person that reads the cereal boxes huh?

I will definitely be sure I read everything - especially for us being that it's our first time going! I'm wanting to make the trip as perfect as possible.
