Just being logical...
A regular AP RENEWAL actually IS it's own built-in discount.
Being able to simply decide to purchase a "renewal certificate" (at a locked-in lower price) well in advance and use it sometime at
an undefined "future date" doesn't track very well with AP policy.
If this were a "regular thing,"
why did Disney specifically change the renewal window from the traditional "30 days before"
to "60 days before" a few years back... to accommodate 60 day advance FP+ bookings.

I agree with you, Robo, it really surprised me what she wrote. I have not called to ask (I am always hesitant to call, since there is so much misinformation from phone reps). And I have decided not to try to buy one for a future renewal, so I can't add personal experience. I hope someone who tries will report back.
