Make sure and call to see if you have a pin

OK, so I just called (only my second attempt) and the CM Ferris, wouldn't even look. He said no maam there are no published discounts for rooms ( I specifically asked if I had a pin). The he said "Thank youfor calling Disney and have a magical day"-kinda sarcastically or maybe I just took it that way. I then hung up on him. The first call I got another very abrupt CM. Don't like it... Where's the disney magic??? When I call to book, I always get such nice friendly CMs. Doubt I will make a third call.:sad2:

Call another CM. And then send an e-mail to WDW about the bad one.

Sorry to hear that you didn't have a PIN and that the CM's weren't very nice. I received that same type of treatment when I called (on 2 or 3 different occasions). I don't think that I will be calling again either.

Such a bad feeling when you get off the phone. I am probably taking it too personally. But I expect much better from Disney. It's my happy placeprincess:

Its weird that there are such extremes of CM reaction... does Disney have an 'official' stance on calling and asking? If they don't like it then why on earth are so many people finding out about them only by calling?

Forgive me if I'm being redundant, but when you call to ask if there is a pin attached to your name, are you telling them that you have an existing reservation first?

Did you put all your info in before the cm picked up. If you had a pin I would think it would just pop up on your account. The last time I called the cm thanked me for giving them my info before they picked up. He said it saves them a lot of time.

Yes I put all the info in through the automated system. It was more the tone of voice, andthe fact I got cut off while talking that bothered me more than the fact I didn't have a pin.

Does anyone else get this type of "attitude" from CM's when asking about discounts/PINS ?

Yes! I do!

I've learned a lot from these boards and I have tried taking advantage of asking for a PIN several times. 1 time the lady was nice about it and said, "let me check for you!" but said no in the end.

More often, though, I have had testy CMs who act clueless or just say "no" right off the bat without even seeming to look at anything. I ask in the nicest, most pleasant way possible but it seems that gets their aggression going more, lol.

I have been going to Disney since the 80s. I paid full rack rate once at CR because I just didn't know any better (sometime in the mid 90s) then again at BC and after those experiences I found Disboards. Who knew you could get a discount?? I never paid full price again.

btw that time at CR I think I paid $200 something per night for the tower. I paid around $300/nt a couple years later for BC. Now, they price it much higher, but give you a 40% discount. It's just so much game playing, but I look at it like a sport. Always exciting to score that discount :cool1:

I called a few weeks ago and asked if I had any pins attached to my name and the CM tells me "yes, but it expired last year".. now what good does that do me? I'm kinda scared to call again and ask.

I have tried all the "tricks" to try and get a pin code to be sent to my email address and NOTHING. I even created an account in my husbands name with his email address and NOTHING.

Has anyone every called and asked about a pin code in their name and then ask the CM to check their spouses name?

I read that the language to use is to ask if you have a pin associated/attached to your household and that will cover your spouse.

Even though pins and reservations are separate, I do think that it's highly dependent on the CM as to whether they mention a pin if they can see an existing reservation. If the CMs are compensated for new bookings, it would be much easier to answer in the negative and move on to a call where they have a chance to make a booking. Although I haven't entered my reservation number the last few times I've called, I have had to answer a few preliminary questions like name, address and phone number. That's enough info. to find someone in the system and determine if they're asking about a pin for an existing reservation. Even though I've asked for and gotten a pin discount applied to a previously booked trip, I do think it's a bit less likely than if there's a chance to make a new booking. Any thoughts?

Just called. I have registered my name on the website and saved a vacation, but have not booked yet. I asked for a pin associated with my name and he told me yes! Yahoo - oh wait, the pin is the one that ends in June and we are traveling in July. He was very nice, but told me that is the one and only pin I can use. Still waiting for the summer discounts (crossing my fingers).

Don't know if this is a PIN code or pixie dust....but...after 2 poor experiences I called and got a wonderful CM. I was almost in tears when I called today (pathetic I know). But I explained my experience to the CM, and that I emailed Disney to report my bad experiences. There were no discounts available on WL Deluxe room, but CHECK OUT MY NEW TICKER!!!! I got 2 rooms for the same amounts as my rack rate WL Deluxe room.

I can't wait to hear all about your trip....Pixie dust for discounts after the holiday:wizard: Even with the discount I broke the bank.I could've done CR or WL. But I already planned on spending the same price paying rack rate, IT'S ALL GOOD! I work hard all year for my disney trip! Keep trying on the PIN..... I supposedly didn't have one either.

This is the first I've been researching about "PINS" but I have to say:

I made, and paid, for our CR reservations months ago before the "Free Dining" was announced.

I called to see what it would cost to add the dining package to our already $4900 reservation. The CM told me $690. I said I'd think about it.

When I called back a couple of days later, I told the CM that I would like to add the dining plan to my reservations, could she tell me how much it would be? She started to do some "mental" math (as opposed to the first CM who actually calculated it out in the system) by telling me it was X amount per day per person, etc, so it would be around $720.

I made a comment that "Wow, I guess I shouldn't have made my reservations so long ago, I could have gotten it for free". She asked me to hold while she determined the exact amount.

When she came back, she told me that it would be $724.65. BUT - if I would go ahead and pay a $15 reservation change fee, she could go ahead and add the dining plan for free.

My point is the CM's have a broad scope of flexibility, and the offer of an offer is almost certainly contingent on the luck of the draw each time you call.

What # is it you call to find out if you have a pin? Just the generic one and say you are making a new reservation or..?

Yes I would call and say you are making a new reservation. Why mention that you have an existing. Thats what I did and it worked. The cms are much more eager to help if you are making a new reservation. They get credit for sales. You can always cancel the old one. Use your spouses name and a different email address if you have to.

No pins for me, oh well! She was very nice about looking for me, and tried to find 'any other discounts' but ultimately there just aren't any for our dates. She sounded so disappointed when I didn't book anything though... I feel so bad for wasting her time.

I just received a call today from Disney Destinations, apologizing for the delay in addressing my issue. She also said she was calling to offer my the best available promotion she could, but she was glad to see I already had it applied. She was very nice, and very apologetic.

For those that don't know- I called to ask if I had a PIN and got a very rude CM who practically hung up on me. So I emailed Disney. I did get up the courage to call again and got a discount. I never asked if I had a PIN or not, but judging by my call today (I also got a call a week or so ago but DH erased the message) it was "pixie dust" to make me feel better.

IT WORKED!!!!!:woohoo:
