We are going to Pop on the first week of may. My husband and I wil have our son who will be 15 months. He sleeps well at home with a sound machine. I am just scared if he sees us in the pack n play he will not sleep. My original idea is like taking a shower curtain or something to make a divider just so he can't see us. Plus I don't know how to hang or attach it without causing any damage. Any ideas ?

You could try some of the 3M Command hooks. They are easy to put up and do not mar the wall when removed.

You might search for a thread about Pop's recent renovations. I'm thinking they may have added privacy curtains in the refurb, but I'm not 100% sure.

The bathrooms at Pop do now have the privacy curtains. So you could put the pack n play in the bathroom area, maybe in the closet area and then once he's asleep you can open the curtain and use the bathroom if you need to!

I remember vacations when my kids were little and in pack n plays, the first couple of nights were always a challenge, then they settled into the new routine of being in a pack n play in the same room with us.

Good luck!

The 3m hooks are a good idea. The divider if present in between the bathroom and room would work but might be hard to get around at night. To the 1 st poster I am unsure what u mean?

There is now a privacy curtain that separates the closet/bathroom area from the rest of the room. The curtain cordons of the area where the sink and closet are. The toilet and shower are behind a door, so your child wouldn't be sleeping in the room with the toilet!

I've read that some people take little pop up kiddie tents to use for this purpose.

I've thought about doing this. Though the Comman hooks and a loooong shower curtain or piece of cheap fabric would be a great idea too.

DD will be 2.5 but this will be the first time she's ever slept somewhere other than at home in her crib, so I'm not sure what to expect from her sleeping habits.

For us the first night is always hard... even know with the kids 4 and 2. But after the first night they are so tired that they pass out.... if you can deal with sitting in the bathroom or on the balcony for 40 minutes or so until they are sound asleep! Good luck..... we like ASMus suites for just that reason. This year we are back at a deluxe and while we love the location and ammenidities.... the extra space for sleeping babies is going to be really missed!

Even now with a 15 and 6 year old, it's hard to get everyone to sleep in a single room...way too much stimulation.

Another suggestion for you, besides the separator curtain, is this: We used to stop outside of our room and sit just outside the door with the door slightly propped open when it was time to put our children to bed. It helped.

:) Pop is usually very quiet, especially on the upper floor. I would not get Command Hooks. I bought the 3M kind and they could not hold up a Christmas decoration made of parachute material. It could have been that I used them on a door and not a wall. I was not impressed. You should have plenty of room using the sink/closet area with the curtain closed. We have stayed at Pop several times, although we do not have kids, and I think this area would be fine for a pack-in-play. Then you won't have to fight with a shower curtain or whatever after a long day in the Parks. :thumbsup2.

You might also want to bring his little night lite or whatever from home, too.

Wishing you all a great trip--so much so that you will go back year after year.:wizard:

We were planning to take folding/camping chairs for this purpose. I hope this isn't considered rude. We wouldn't be purposely trying to block the walkway.

That's weird. You must've gotten a defective set. I use them in several places in my house. Most notably in my mudroom where we hang heavy winter coats 2 and 3 deep on one hook. For a frame of reference, one adult winter coat is too heavy to hang over the back of a normal-weight kitchen chair without tipping the chair over. The 3M hooks handle them no problem at all.

Can't you attach a blanket to the outside of the PnP to just block his view out? Much easier than doing something at the hotel and you can practice this at home right now. Could be useful for trips after this one, too.

I think that may depend on where your room is located. If you are right by a stairway, or on a main pathway, then you may have to rethink this.

I agree -- I love the 3M hooks!!

We use them to hang out stockings on the fireplace since we don't have a mantle. Even with the bumpy, porous bricks & loaded down with toys and candy, they stuck just fine.

I've also been using them for almost 2 years in the bath tub to hang the Boon Ladybug pod that holds all of DD's bath toys & big bottles of body wash/shampoo. Hasn't fallen down once, even with rough tile & being wet/humid constantly.

I'd give them another try if you're ever in a situation where you could use them.

I agree with Mixie. Start getting him used to sleeping in the same room right now while your still at home. And don't forget, he'll probably be really tired at night and may sleep better than you think.

For what it is worth, the child will probably sleep very well at WDW. Mine always do because we are completely worn out. We go go go all day - even with an afternoon break. That break might be swimming, etc or the little guy used to nap with grandma. On the other hand, it can be over stimulating for little ones, so that he will be exhausted but not well able to settle down. I would suggest not forgetting to bring a couple story books from home - not new ones, but ones he is used to reading at home. Give him a quiet bath first, then read books with dim lights to help make the transition from Very Exciting to sleep.
