Suggestions Wanted!! Hi All! His 1 request is Snorkeling in a natural environment. We have booked the 5 day Bahamian aboard the Magic for January 2018. This will be his 1st cruise ever, and will be my 3rd cruise ( 1st was 3 day Dream w/my teen son & 2nd was 4 day on Wonder with sis for my 40th). He's not really a Disney guy but wants to make me happy. While I'm sure he will EnJoy it (it's a Disney Cruise after all) I'd like to make it a little extra special. He loves: classic cars, Ancient Rome, history, and wine. Any suggestions would be appreciated!! We will book Palo for sure and the ports are: Key West, Nassau, and Castaway Cay, with one sea day. TIA!!!!

Wine - There should be a wine tasting on board...just wine and/or with chocolate.

History - Key West has Hemingway's house and Truman's Little White House for history.

Ancient Rome would necessitate a Med cruise stopping in Civitavecchia.
Classic cars are really more associated with La Habana, Cuba.

My DH is into classic cars, too. There's not much to go with Mickey and cars, but I suppose you could draw a parallel of cruising in a car and cruising on a ship. :)

I made a Mickey head-shaped magnet for our door with a picture of his car cruising with some other cars from a show he was at. It turned out quite well and he appreciated the thought and the connection.

Thank you! I think the tastings and Key West sites are perfect!

Oh my gosh, I love this!! I will have magnets and he will love it if his classic car is on one or two!!

He loves: classic cars,

Since your on the Wonder you could plan to spend one evening in Cadillac Lounge. It's an adult only lounge/bar area on Deck 3 Forward. The design is all classic Cadillac parts. They have live music playing during the evening, as well as a full bar service. It's open during the day, and we found often no one was in there at all. We would head there to play card games and enjoy the views and we would be the only people in there. You could secretly pack a book about Roman History and set it out on the bed the first night with a note and a map to the Cadillac Lounge. A car Lounge and a great book could make for a great cruise for him.

This is an excellent idea!!! Thank you!! We are looking at the magic or fantasy but I will have to relook at the wonder now!

Sorry I have no idea how I got Wonder stuck in my head. Wonder is a great ship and it just at it's dry dock so it's still pretty sparkly. It is the only one with Cadillac Lounge though.

I'm not sure what's meant by 'natural environment'. Has he ever snorkeled b4?

If no, then the snorkeling area at CC is a good place for a beginner. It is 'natural' in that it is open to the ocean and there's 'real fish'! It is also somewhat protected AND there are life guards making it ideal for beginners.

If he has some snorkeling experience, I believe in Nassau they still offer a snorkeling excursion or two that go in "real ocean"

He has and didn't seem very interested in it at Castaway Cay because it is structured a bit by them. Thanks for the links!

In Nassau, you could create a special day by chartering a boat. This would allow you to plan just the day you want and have natural snorkeling. You could include a picnic with wine on a beach. I can recommend Capt. Carl's Bahama Boat Tours http://bahamaboattours.com/ but a check of trip advisor will give you others with great ratings.

I really like this idea!!!! Thank you for the idea and recommendation!!!

My husband got the men's facial and shave and said it was "uh-maaaazing":

Elemis Pro-Collagen Grooming Treatment with Shave

  • Duration: 75 minutes
  • Price: $95
Known as the "shave of all shaves," this youth enhancing treatment will leave his skin looking and feeling revitalized. This signature grooming service includes the Express Shave, an anti-aging mini facial and luxurious face, scalp, hand and arm massage.

We did the Catamarran and Snorkel DCL excursion and really liked it, it was really close to the port and the snorkeling and boat ride were fun and it includes a free alcoholic punch drink

That sounds perfect!! Was it at Nassau?

Yep! The captain of the ship meets the group right off the boat and the catmarran is docked very close to the Disney ship. It's about a 3-3.5 hour excursion and the catamarran docks at a slightly different spot near port (on the return trip), we had to walk a bit to get back to the ship, maybe like .5 mile? It was close to port but it was a different spot than where we sailed from. We all tipped the captain about $5-10 after we got off the ship. It's about a 30-40 min ride to the snorkeling spot but along the way you get to see neat boats and big mansions and drive by Atlantis... and then snorkeling is about 90 min and then 40 min back with juice punch... you're back by around 1pm and still have half the day left so it's nice, here's a video of the ride back

Thank you for all of the information. I really wanted to do something he would love and also have half the day to spend on the ship as a "Sea day" This is perfect!!! Thanks again!
