We can't take boosters on the plane? Does that mean that I have to check it? How do I check a booster seat?

Because the van that was taking us to the airport wouldn't have a carseat, we took a booster for Marenna. We couldn't take it on -- you can only carry on FAA approved seats (there's a sticker on your seat if it qualifies). But checking it was no big deal. They popped it in a sack, and away it went, just like any other luggage.

I found the regulations about carseats in CA on their dept. of transportation website:surfweb:. I know all the states are different. Here in TX DD(9) doesn't need one, but she doesn't weigh 80 lbs. and needs one in CA. She isn't happy about having to take her booster:sad2: She told us she is almost a tween. She will turn 10 the week after we get home!

I have started our pre-trip again. We are at 57 days and counting...AGAIN! Things are looking up though.

Ask away! Your questions are great! :) This is a perfect place to ask them all! :)

I tend to want to park where I will be at the END of the day. That is just me. Your GKTW button should allow you to park in the handicapped or diamond parking at the Transporation and Ticket Center, so you should get a relatively close spot. You will then take a monorail to get to the Magic Kingdom from there and another monorail to get to Poly. (Veterans...is this right?!?!?!?)

If you park at the Poly, you will need to either valet park (cost is $10, I think, unless you have a disabled tag, then it is FREE!) and then come back to the Poly at the end of the day.

I would almost lean toward the Poly, if you have the handicapped tag. If you don't, I would park at the TTC (MK). It may not even be "legal" to park at the Poly all day...But you are on a wish trip with 8 kids and 2 adults...so the legality of the whole thing is not a big deal..I mean...what are they gonna do to you?...IMO.

You wouldn't be allowed to leave your car at Poly all day. You can park at the Transportation and Ticket Center, and either grab the monorail to the Poly (just ask for the Resort Monorail) or you can walk to the Poly.

We can't take boosters on the plane? Does that mean that I have to check it? How do I check a booster seat? My son has to be in a car seat, he's not tall enough to sit in a regular car seat and in Virginia, he still legally needs to be in a car seat. Not sure what the carseat law is in Florida. Anyone know how I go about checking it?

Backless boosters could be carried on the plane as a carry on item. Olivia's got the backed booster so we decided to check it as luggage. Southwest stuck luggage tags on BOTH items (both boosters) and then stuck them in a clear plastic bag. No issues ... Easy - peasy... ;)

Thanks for all the info re: boosters. Guess it's not a big deal.
I'm taking my laptop and am **hoping** to do live updates during the trip. I guess this is pending on our internet connection.

I just saw someone else's ticker that says there leaving in 1 week and 6 days. Were leaving in 1 week and 4 days....it's so close!

I have so much to do still! Got some shopping done today. Bought two swimsuits for each child and some other supplies. I have to print my emergency cards on Wednesday.

And then I"m going to take them to were I work and laminate them.

We do have a seat for our 18 month old. Our wish coordinator called before she booked the flight and asked if we wanted one for her. I asked for one because I thought she would do better in her car seat.
I talked to the coordinator today, she said we don't need a car seat for the kids in the limo, but can take one if we want. I think I will use the one for the little one, but not our 4 year old. She said we will have a car seat for him with the rental car.

Michelle

hi there michelle!!!

on the car seats....are you SURE your 18 month old gets his own seat on the plane? for our 19 month old, he was considered a "lap baby' and did NOT get his own seat!!! 2 and under usually don't?! so make sure that is not the case here....also, we ended up taking matthews (our maw kiddo) car seat and it worked out REALLY GREAT because he was able to be supported on all sides....he has low tone and would have been very floppy....it was a PAIN to carry it with us along with his wheelchair and our baby's stroller and our bags but worth it!!!

i don't know aobut the limo BUT MAW DID rent a booster for our 6 year old and a 5 point harnest for our baby!!! but you might want to ask ASAP because the reason we did not get a rent one for matthew is because they did NOT have anymore to RENT!!! but it worked out in the end! we were glad we had our in the airpane!!

GOOD LUCK....and YES MAW does rent that!! they actually rented our suction pump, nebulizer and oxygen for us and it was ALL waiting for us when we got to GKTW!!! it made it easier so we didn't have to bring our OWN supplies on the plane!! what a DIFFRENCE that made!!!

Well we went in for an MRI and her shunt wasn't working so we get to spend a few days at the hospital, figured something was up and better now then in 5 weeks when we are at Disney...still not what I wanted to do this week...surgery will hopefully be in the next few hours..

I have questions about flying with kids. They have never flown:rolleyes1, and I haven't flown in 15+ years. We are flying from TX to CA. The kids are 7 (wish kid) and 9. Also, since Dev's long hospital stay, we are thinking about taking a transport wheelchair. Any thoughts?

kdzbear shared this on her pre-trip report...but I think it deserves repeating over here! What a great set of lyrics!!

**everything here forward is from kdzbear....

Since yesterday was Mother’s Day, I wanted to share this song with you. It is on the 4th Signing Time DVD. I copied the lyrics from the Signing Time website. I hope this is ok. You can see the words to the song, “Shine” by going to www.signingtime.com. It is the site that produces the best DVDs to learn sign language. They have helped Tyler a lot. I think this song summarizes Tyler. I wish you could hear it! There is a link on the website to hear it play, but I can’t get it to work:

Zane Alexander Gardner (11/12/1998-2/11/2002)
Zane- you taught me that heroes come in all sizes. Thank you for helping me let go of the typical timelines
so that Lucy was free to reach milestones at her own pace. You helped me believe in Lucy and now Lucy is
inspiring so many others. You gave me hope, and hope is the ultimate gift. You still inspire me. ~R
Sometimes I see you stuck
For such a long time
A daily nothing new
Pretend I don’t mind
With lists of things you’ll never do
Until somehow you do
And you do — you do — you shine
The days and months and years,
they run together
Is it just one day? Or is this forever?
You’ve taught me in your lifetime
More than I’d learned in mine
And you do, you do, you shine
Shine Shine Shine Shine Shine
Shine your light on me
Shine Shine Shine Shine Shine
everyone will see
Shine Shine Shine Shine Shine
I’m so glad you are mine
And you’ll shine in your own time
Well, maybe I’m too close to see you clearly
Or is it now my role to simply believe?
You’re just one of those mysteries
That may never be solved in time
But you do — you do — you shine
And Sammy will do what Sammy will do when Sammy is ready to do it
And Trevor will do what Trevor will do when Trevor is ready to do it
And Lucy will do what Lucy will do when Lucy is ready to do it
And they’ll do it in their own time
Yeah, they’ll Shine Shine Shine Shine Shine
Shine your light on me
Shine Shine Shine Shine Shine
And everyone will see
Shine Shine Shine Shine Shine
I’m so glad you are mine
And you’ll shine, and you shine

Oh no!!!!!

Please keep us posted!

We are praying for you guys!

A transport wheelchair sounds like a great idea!

You just take it with you through the airport and "gate check" it... they just take it right before you board the airplane and give it back once you guys land.

Do all rides have a fast pass lane? If there is no fast pass lane, do we have to wait in line?

Thank you,
Michelle

Not all rides have a fast pass lane...and for those, usually, you get to go in the exit. ::yes:: Which is even faster. :thumbsup2 We did just wait in a few really short lines, if the CM did not see us. Pirates, for example, was only 10 min...so we waited in the regular line. But there is an exit that they could take you to...

I'd go with the flow and I think you will find that your needs are met and hopefully your expectations exceeded (although, this thread tends to promote high expectations! ;))

Prayers Needed...

Noah's Mom posted this on her blog...

Off to the ER...Noah's central line broke.

I, personally, have no idea what that means?? But it certainly sounds like they can use our prayers!

Here is a link to her blog, for those of you guys that don't know Noah.

Prayers for Noah!!! There are several different kinds of central lines. Some broken ones are worse than others. We have had a PICC and a port. Dev broke a PICC line. This was a quick fix. Check the placement and new cap. I hope Noah's is as easy. I couldn't imagine if he had broken his port. Lots of:hug::hug::hug::hug:!!!!

Saying prayers for Noah and his family. In fact saying for many others here on this thread. So sorry these kids are going through many different illness'.

I also ask for prayers for my dd Andrea as she has a cardiologist appt. on Thursday morning. We will have a few test and find out if her left ventricle pumping function has improved. We should also find out what is the next step, so far we are figuring on a open heart surgery this summer sometime. She has been having lots of anxiety lately, and she doesn't even know what all is going on and the fact that she might have a surgery this summer.

On a more happy note I have added some new pictures on her pre-trip report. These are pics of my ds Matt's Big Give Pkg. Come on over and check them out. Wow the trip is coming up so quickly and I have so much to do yet.:rotfl:

Just a head's up! My dd (wish child) is sick again....She now has mono (it was going around her school. We are estimating this is about her 3rd week with it so it should be long gone before our trip (the symptoms anyway). She won't be contagious and in fact has been approved to go back to school. Just no sharing of her drinks etc. We preach against that anyway because she is so prone to getting stuff more easily than others.

I am praying for all the sick reports I have read on here. I know mono is a drop in the bucket to what some of you are going through at this moment and my prayers are with you all.

Sorry but I also wanted to add that my dd's BG's are a little crazy right now again. Due to her mono. Pray for them to go back to normal:)

I wanted to let you all know that my dd came home from the hospital on Monday. We had her send off party with her wish granters last night. I am just so amazed at how generous MAW is. Today is her birthday and they had a cake for her last night, gave her a backpack filled with goodies, and I was most amazed at the check they gave us. Since we are going to be on a cruise I figured they wouldn't give us much because all the meals are included, but they gave us money for meals on traveling days and money for lunch the days we are in port. We leave on Sat. and we are all so excited. Now I have to do a ton of packing, being in the hospital the last two weeks really messed up my getting ready plans.

Glad to hear that your dd is out of the hospital and that you are able to go on your trip. I am praying you have safe, fun, and healthy trip. That is nice that they gave your dd a send off party and that she recieved lots of goodies. Have fun packing :rotfl: I am not looking forward to that part.

Just read on Noah's blog that it was a qucik fix and is still working!!!!!! :cool1: The power of prayer is amazing!

We back at the dr. with Dev yesterday. The school called and said he wouldn't walk on his right foot. The pedi says it's not broken, but they are concerned about an infection. Now he is cruising around school in a wheelchair:scared1:. Watch your toes:laughing::laughing: Gotta laugh  or I just might start crying:sad1:

It seems like Dev has been through so much lately! Can you put a link to your pre-trip in your siggy? I am always digging for where it is! I am pretty obsessed with legoland and Disneyland so love to follow it! In fact 1 year ago today we were at the San Diego Zoo! Why can't I be there right now!
