Major issues causing closures at The Living Sea's.

The old problems are back again maybe I'll get lucky and the ride will he destroyed!

I've pavilion was done wrong the ride is the major problem. Nemo can have an attraction but the fact the he is the main focus is the problem.

The Land has proper character integration for EC. Circle of life works because Lion King didn't take over everything.

I'm fine with Turtle Talk if the integration ended there it would have been fine. This killed TLS and it really did since it's now called the Sea's with Nemo and friends.

Also the ride teaches nothing besides it's a big blue world. And where is the Futuristic aspect of the pavilion?

Nemo fits the Sea's but by taking center stage has made The Seas not fit in FW. There really is know way to say that it still fits in FW.

While it brought the crowds back the sane could have been accomplished by adding an Eticket.

I agree. I do enjoy Nemo and friends. I think it's a neat little attraction.
However I also agree that it has nothing to do with Future World.

Agreed that's why FW is in the worst shape it has ever been in. The fact that they choose FLe instead of saving FW is a joke.

Still tha pavilion should not be dedicated to one character Disney too the cheap way out by slappIng in Nemo.

The pavilion is dedicated to the Living Seas. It's the Living Seas *with* Nemo. Not Nemo and the Seas. There's no Nemo in the aquarium itself, which is still the main attraction here... once they get it cleaned up, anyway.

We'll have to disagree on this one... I also happen to think FW is much better now than it was in the mid-1990s. Many of the original rides many people miss were hopelessly dated -- presenting a mid-1970s (when most of the attractions were designed) view of "the future."

Yeah, that's what I mean -- The Seas *with* Nemo and Friends. You're getting hung up on a minor point -- the big point here is that the SEAS are still the star, not Nemo. Nemo is a fun little ride but there's still a massive tank full of sea life in there -- not to mention manatee rehab -- and they don't have little Nemos swimming around in there.

If you completely ignore the older version of the attraction, and enter it now...it is entirely possible to see Nemo, Turtle Talk, and walk out without ever really exploring the world's 2nd largest aquarium, because honestly they don't promote that aspect of it. A couple of small signs, or if you start walking around to purposely explore things, you may actually realize how there's this HUGE aquarium around.

Otherwise its, lets see Nemo and Crush and leave.

Chris, I agree with so many of your posts that it pains me to say this: I completely disagree.

You'd have to be completely blind to see the Nemo ride and Turtle Talk but miss the GIANT AQUARIUM. I mean, you can actually see it from the Nemo ride -- it's the backdrop for the ride itself. The ride is like a giant sign for the aquarium. If you can't figure out there's a fish tank in the building after that, you don't deserve to see it.

And I don't have a problem with expecting people to walk around and explore things. I much prefer it to an endless series of signs.

That said, there are people who see Nemo and Crush and leave. I don't think it means they don't realize there's an aquarium there. Just like many people skip or spend little time in AK because "we have a zoo at home," some skip the aquarium in The Seas because "we have an aquarium at home."

That's their problem... not mine and certainly not the attraction's.

I'm a classic kinda gal and so's my mom. My mom was unimpressed with The Seas with Nemo and Friends. For people who have never seen Finding Nemo the ride is virtually pointless to them. I honestly LOVED the Living Seas in the old school theming. The hydrolators, the sea cabs/omnimovers, and the way that you could see ALL of the fish throughout the ride. My mom didn't care for the ride and honestly she was confused cause she had never seen the movie and therefore it just didn't appeal to her.

I loved the visuals of the technologies of the sea, the movie used as the preshow, and the nice calming sea cab ride. The kids LEARNED SOMETHING!! They weren't plopped in front of a screen looking at a CGI turtle.

Its very sad to me the route that FW has gone. Honestly its not okay to me that EPCOT has lost its edutainment factor. Nowadays kids and teens don't get exposed to enough of that. The Living Seas was one of those gems that should've had some updates but not a total revamp.

I don't like that I always seem to be Mr. Positive around here, and while I generally agree with dissapointment in the lowering of the educational values of "Future World", I DON'T agree with Nemo being a bad change to the Seas.

My daughter (8) only knows the Seas as it is now, but the Seas is one of her favorite things about Epcot. She is into the ocean in a big way and it is because of that pavillion. Yes, the ride has no educational value whatsoever, but once you get into the building there's lots of little stations that teach you about fish, sharks, manatees and other sea creatures. They also have demos from the dolphin trainers if you are there at the right time, and they have the scuba divers come out as well. Sure, it's not a lot, but it doesn't HAVE to be - you're only going to be there for an hour at most. We pretty much have to go to this pavillion every time we enter Epcot.

And THIS is really what future world should be about. It's not there to make you an expert on a topic, but it should give you enough background to make you - and more importantly your kids - want to go out and learn more. The LAND to me still works this way, even if Soarin' doesn't do that, but the boat ride and the Lion King movie are pretty good about this. Innovations is actually decent as well and maybe SSE. The rest of future world, not so much.

But saying Nemo is "all that's wrong with future world", nope, your just plain wrong.

Back to the original post - this is a dissapointing news - I really hope that none of the animals suffer for the problems. I know just keeping our little 3-gallon fish tank in operating condition is a chore. I also hope it doesn't end up with an extended closure anytime soon.
