How did people pull this off??

We have him booked but want to play the joke on the best men but they will want to look at the rings etc

I think what you do is tell the Best Man that the officiant will have the rings (you might want to let the officiant in on it, but prolly don't need to).

I did not have the major duomo but the butler- anyway it is the same concept and it was so funny. Everyone still talks about him. We told my FIL that my MOH had the rings (my MOH was my mom) he was leary but went for it.Then we told my mom that she would hold the rings but at the last minute told her the best man had them. When the butler asked them for the rings- they were both confused for moment but quickly began to laugh. Everyone giggled!

Our officiant suggested the joke idea. MY DH had no best man so everyone thought he had the rings and no one really asked.

The officiant turned to my MOH and asker her for the rings, her face dropped. DH also freaked out, his nerves made him forget the joke. It made everyone laugh, my brother was expecting Mickey Mouse to come in at that moment!
