<font face="times" size="+0">All the resorts went up a lot after 2001, I think much of it has to do with Insurance and Property Taxes. I had hoped to eventually do a more in depth analysis, but still haven't had time to get around to it.
Also, the cap on dues increases (15% I think?) doesn't include Property Taxes... so those could skyrocket at any time since it's not under DVC's control.</font>
Rising employee healthcare costs...rising costs on insuring the resort (post-9/11)...rising property taxes...lower interest income. It all adds up.
OKW's increase would have been at least 1% lower this year if not for the addition of the new pool slide. While DVC/DVD paid to install the pool itself, members bear the higher maintenance costs and wages for the full time lifeguards now employed.
