I heard that Main St. is open half an hour before the rest of the park. Is this true? If so, does that mean they are letting guests in before the park actually opens? If so, what time should we be at the gates for a 10 a.m. opening? The first morning we're there it's an EE morning (which we can't go to). Should we avoid DL that morning and got to DCA instead?
It's my first time going and we leave tomorrow; I want to make sure we get in ASAP. TIA!

I would still go to the DL. It's not like WDW when it comes to EE. It won't be very crowded this time of year. Go with a plan to get fast passes and work around that. If it

I would love to know this too.

I think that if you get into the park early, main street is open for about 30 minutes or so before the rest of the rides are open. If you get up to the end of main street early enough and are there for rope drop, you can be one of the families that gets chosen to "open" the park. That is as I understand the process. I have been going to DLR for many years now, but have never been chosen to "open" the park. Hopefully someone else can elaborate on the subject.

Sorry! They do start letting you in about 30 minutes before rope drop on a regular day. They will have a rope pulled across the end of Main Street and a couple of CM's will guide the crowd to the hub at the official park opening. If it's EE, there will be a rope blocking off the other lands. We have been there on EE where they let us in a little early but not 30 minutes ealry.
If i's a 10:00 opening, they will let you in to Main Street at 9:30. I would get to the gate around 9:00- no later than 9:15.
